Just 5 seconds? You might want to try again. Hell, the STi makes 300hp and weighs 3200 pounds. It gets to 60 in 4.7. If he can get traction in that thing, he should easily be in the low to mid 4s second range, I'm sure. Hell, he might dip into the 3s!

3, 4, 5 seconds for a 0-60? Even a low 10 sec 1/4? Who cares! Just think of getting there in a skateboard with 300hp bolted to it! Its all about the fear factor I reckon.

I think it's neat as you young guys would say, being that some one can talk about a hobby car and peaple on a world wide base can come to gether and talke about it and what they think of it, just a few years ago like in the 60' and 70' I was hobbyen with my Corvair, blowen the door off of 442 with off duty cops in them, and back then there was no one but your self as a group, ops back to work the boss is callen

Still going with the project.
Getting the gearbox mounted up to the engine at the moment and trying to use the cosmo bellhousing and a lada clutch/mazda flywheel - still looking for a flywheel.
Any one know which flywheel fits? It needs to be 320mm diametre including ring gear and i have the counterweight.
Going through the certification process. Design is the hardest one as it is hard to draw something you have never seen!
Getting there though. Still hunting for a computer option - any ideas? Megasquirt seems to be the one but will it run the spark on a 13b-re? Need help on that one - also looking at the wolf 3d.
Pictures will come when there is something to look at!

Just an update.
Got a S6 flywheel and a S4 clutch and pressure plate and G/box has been sent to the machinists to get some alterations done.
Money is a wonderful thing when the tree grows good.

Thats far more fabrication work than just making it RWD, especially if you are using aftermarket subframes that are made for a different application. One thing to look out for if you are using a transaxle is that your drive shafts are not on too much of an angle. The aftermarket honda subframe requires you to extend the front enda couple inches because it interfers with the mini steering box... whether that is just for the honda conversion specifically, im not sure. I dont think that the tallon has a removable bellhousing which is going to make your selection of flywheel and counterweights kind of interesting, not to mention whether the input shaft of the transmission will be long enough to mate with whatever clutch you end up using.

Anywhoo... just some things I have come across in my research on the subject

Just curious, but what sort of clearance have you got on the steering arms between the body and transmission?

the web link didn't work

my car is getting there slowly. spent a lot of time sourcing parts and making bits. Got the front end sorted out - macpherson struts. Made the 4 link in the rear and working on the watts linkages now. And waiting on cage specs. in new zealand we have to have a certain spec of cage and a club membership to be able to put a cage in. I need one as i havent got any chassis rails and will use the cage for tortional rigidity as well. engine has its to4 in a box next to it and a microtech is on the way still trying to decide how far back to mount the engine to centre the weight a bit more. Do you know your weight bias front/rear?

I'll get some pics up as soon as i get another camera (other one died)
