Hiya,
you have done some wicked fabrication there!!!

I can see why the headers you have made have to be different lengths purely because you have little room to fit the turbo anywhere but where it is... but does it make any flow differences or pulsing to the turbo by having non- matched length headers?

I know they should be equal length for NA motors but I'm not so clued up on turbo jobbies.

Hi Chris,

Haven'really decided on a colour yet, however a was leaning towards a mettallic red at this stage. I hear you on the rust i have at times considered bolting the 20b into the Rx4 instead of the 929. Just to get it back on the street again. Have to keep telling myself that it will be all worth it in the end.

Cheers Gus

I got the exhaust manifold back from having the sealing faces machined flat so I have been able to make the 3 1/2 inch dump pipe, a tight fit but it clears . Just have to make the flanges to bolt the exhaust system to it. (When I make the exhaust system.)

After I weld the flanges on, the turbo exhaust housing, manifold and dump pipe will be sent off to be ceramic coated. Should help keep the heat down and looking good.

.....also mounted the coils

Do not put your coils at this place, it's to hot for Bosch coil. I burned a few Bosch coil at this location on my 20B.

Here's a bit of an update not much but it's one step at a time .

Lashed out on a Westside Exhaust and Custom radiator and oil cooler combo.

Also a PWR barrel cooler, heat exchanger, filler spout and water pump I scored for a good price off ebay.

Now have to make some mounts for the radiator and heat exchanger and plumb up the barrel cooler.

Getting there ever so slowly.

Found a bit of time this arvo, so with the mounts welded on I mounted the radiator and made some trial mounts for the heat exchanger radiator.

Also had a bend welded onto the end of the barrel cooler to bring it in line with the radiator.

Waiting on a 135 degree bend from plasmaman to go up to the throttle body to finish it off the intake side.

My 135 deg aluminium bend came from Plasmaman so started work on the last pipe from the barrel cooler to the throttle body snout.

First off chopped the throttle body snout

Shaping the end of the tube to match the chopped off snout.

Trial fit up.

Spent a few hours sanding out the casting marks on the snout and the hammer marks on the tube.

Now just have to get my mate Troy to weld the pipe and snout together. (Don't have an AC tig to do Aluminium)

If your talking about the chamber between the turbo and throttle body, thats a PWR water to air barrel cooler.

You can see in one of the photos there is a small radiator in front of the engine radiator, that cools the liquid inside which is circulated through the barrel cooler which cools the intake air from the turbo and returns to the radiator to be cooled again.

I don't know what the efficiency rate is but water to air is supposed to have better heat transfer properties and more stable intake temps than air to air.

I am using it mainly for space issues and I don't want to cut holes for large piping in my car. On the plus side the shorter intake gives less lag.

Whats your profession or experience for your craftsmanship of this work?

Subscribing. obscene amounts of power for this car. I would have been happy with an NA 20b.
