So how much is a REPU worth

I am looking at a REPU right now, and I have to say it is pretty damn clean. Has some surface rust on the rails, but no rust on any of the body panels. Motor is a 13b(s5) with a t2(s5) trans. He says the motor was rebuilt around 15k ago, but it dosnt look like it, but the compression is good for now at a nice 98psi front, and 97psi on the rear, slight differences in all faces but nothng to varied +-1.

The interior is ok, the seat is ripped and the gauges dont work. Its a nice driving lil truck but he is wanting 3k or he will trade for my 88GTU that I am putting my motor in right now(0 miles). Is it worth it, you guys are the experts on these older things.

Oh and if anyone on here would like to trade a REPU for a 88GTU shoot me a PM.

That sounds about right, I was considering selling mine for around $2500 but it doesn't have a T2 tranny. My gauges work though, heh.

Ill trade you. The reason I am looking into a REPU is because of what I do for a living. I have some bigger trucks and the 7 and corsica, but when I just need to make a run the AirGas, the home depot, or go fishing I almost always have to borrow my nieghbors truck or fire up either my tow truck or rollback. And fuel is just retard anymore.

Depending on condition, I have seen them go anywhere from 2K on the low side to as much as 6K for a clean stock example.

Based on your description, I would say 3K is resonable.

Well I went and looked at it again. I looked at it last night at sundown and drove it at night. Well I can say I am not getting it. It smokes from burning oil, and I noticed that there is oil leaking from inbetween trans and motor. So I am not going to get it.

Again my quest at finding a decent REPU for trade is ended short.

Those are both very common on 30 year old rotaries. It's all a tradeoff really, especially considering how rare the trucks are and more get crushed every year. We think there are 1000 still in existance and maybe 100 being driven on a semi-regular basis.

I have had success using Valvoline High Mileage oil and some STOP-Smoke. Bet the oil by trans is a pan gasket, filter pedastal o-ring, or oil line needing tightening...................

Well the motor is out of an S$ so I was thinking it is a bad oil seal. And the one between the trans and motor is probably a rear seal. I just dont have the time for a motor rebuild.

I would trade him for it but seeing how my motor is brand new and his needs a rebuild I cant.

BTW your sig is the first one I had ever seen and that got me interested.

You might want to sell the GTU and just use some of the money to buy the REPU

I have thought about this. And I will post up an offical thread on a sale once I have the car in road worthy condition. Right now I just have it up for trade as is in the other rotary FS section.

I am contemplating selling my RE/PU,but I am not sure yet if I am going to do it yet.you can see a pic of it at www.mazdarepu.com in the gallery section under the misc folder. My truck is the 6th through9th pics across the top row. Here is a link http://www.mazdarepu.com/Gallery/ind...ads/truck2.jpg

Again I am not sure I want to sell it yet,but I may.I have too many cars, and NO I am not interested in a trade for your car.

If I sell it I would want to get $4000 for it.It is in great shape, and the engine was rebuilt a few months before I bought it 3 or so years ago,and I have only put maybe 3000 miles on it.It has had a pretty colorful past, and is very clean underneath. It has only lived up here in the north east for the past 3-4 years, and has never seen snow or ice.It has been either in a storage unit during the winter,or in my garage the last year or so.I bought it from a guy in GA,and it has spent its life in either SC,or GA,and now MA,but like I said it has never been in bad weather.
