rx8 anyone?

Sneaking RX-7 lover
Most RX-7 owners here in short says:
"RX-8 is crap!"
"8 is slow"
But I have sensed people wanting a turbo kit for it.
It is possible, but at low boost due to the high compression.

Theyre nice looking, but not as nice looking as the 7.
Theyre pretty quick, but not as quick as the 7.
Theyre very good handling cars, but not quite as good as the 7.
In short, its disappointing that Mazda made the new RX worse than the old one. The RXs have been getting better and better and all of a sudden they made the 8 so much worse than the FD. Same thing happened with the Z car too. Nissan was too focused with the GT-Rs and didnt care about the Z car heritage anymore. Its a shame...

I've got a buddy with a RX8. He sold his 3rd gen to get it. He was very anxious to have it etc.. We since he has had it it has been nothing but trouble. He has been through one transmission already. The car was giving codes off like mad with a check engine light. It has been back to the dealership over a dozen times. Each time they claimed to have the problem corrected only to have it pop backup as soon as he would picked the car back up. This last time the dealership decided that they would put a new engine in it. Well same story, they called said it's all better. Goes to pick it up yesterday and what happens, smells of coolant and the check engine light is back on. Now I know that alot of this as to do with the inadequte dealership but the car has seriously had many problems. Seeing what he has been through I personally would not buy any '04 RX8. I am only passing along the story of my friends RX8 woes..

rx8club.com ....and saying the FD looks better than the 8 can be fought over. Anyway, The Rx-8 is more of a show car, it's a sport/luxury car. and the FD is a pure sports car two seater, hatchback etc..

I'm an 8 owner because I searched and drove cars for 3 months and fell in love with the 8. I wanted new and nothing fit me better because of the need for 4 doors and the additional space it offers. Like JagerII said, it's for "the family guy". At least that is what I thought when I bought it. Don't know how an RX-8 could win a points championship without something being aggressive about it. Tell Sylvain Tremblay driving the SpeedSource #70 it's not a sports car. Also as Jager said, they are two totally different cars. If the RX7 had been available (new) I still would not have bought it only because it would have been in the catagory with the other 2 seaters. I've always wanted a 7 and if I had room for an awesome two seater, I'd get a 7. Can't say much about a turbo but a friend of mine that has a Twin Turb 7 was thinking very seriously about getting an 8 also and rebuild the 7. There is no question about it, The 7 is one classic automobile. I see photochops all the time on the rx8club.com forum that have an 8 converted to a 2 door, 2 seater with obvious 7 envy.

I remember reading some magazine article when the 8's came out where they took a FD and an 8 to the track. Both cars being totally stock, they where about the same through the corners, and the test driver said the 8 was easier to handle. However, the straight sections of the track made one thing very clear.....THE 7 CAN'T LOSE!!!!!!!!!

lol yeah FB and FC owners have no gripe with the 8. alwyas 8 and FD owners pickin at eachother. anyways i like both ALOT and am unbiased. while the FD stock is quicker, the 8 handles way better period, no way around it. the 8 is more of a luxury car as well the FD is nothing close to that. the FD is a more hardcore sports car with 2dr hatch, but i still wouldnt call the 8 a non sportscar just because it has 4 doors(the back 2 arent even large doors anyway)

I never owned a 7, so I can't compare them. But I LOVE my RX-8. It's got all the power I need, and it takes corners like a cat. I'm sure the 7's are great cars too, but I don't really care.
