Rx2 dash...welded in? or hidden bolts?

So im finally getting around to stripping the car down to take care of some much needed attention spots. But i cant seem to get the metal portion of the dash out. I was looking at it and it looks to be spot welded in from factory... Is this true, or can i just not find the bolts to take it out?

Welded in. Dash cover comes off and that's about it.

I also have that hunk you wanted cut out of the car.

like the RX-3 and RX-4, the metal portion are screwed into brackets that are welded into the windshield frame (1 of each end and 2 in the middle) but over time, they get very rusty and are very hard to come off. you can use a spring loaded punch to remove the screws OR remove the entire dash along with the frame.

Now I'm going to have to look at the cars I'm attaching together... I spent the last couple days drilling out spot welds in the door pillars of one of them prepping it for the clip job and didn't even see any hardware holding the dash frame. I did drill through about 6 welds on each side that loosened the edges up though.

I spent 5 minutes looking for bolts or anything under the dash of a totally stripped 2 and I can confirm the dash is welded in. Dash pad and some plastic is all that comes off.

PM about to be sent on part of body.

I think i'll just leave the dash in for now. I'll just eat one less desert to make up for the weight of the dash
