RX-8 oil metering system

Does anyone know if the RX-8 still uses the same system for oiling or has it been improved ???

It uses an MOP but it uses way less oil than our cars.

It looks like when they switched to side exhaust ports, it took some of the stress off the apex seals.
There is no exhaust flow across the seal to sluff the oil film.

I just hope they don't start getting side seal problems..

Why doesn't it work well?

Side by side injectors for total housing width lubrication, cooler apex seals because no peripheral exhaust, less wear, better oil distribution.......
I wish that I could use the '8s OMP with the 7s flow rate since I don't care for the improved emissions from lower oil consumption.

Mine really does not use oil... should I be concerned? About a quart low when next oil change is due (3k)

That's good for normal driving.
It goes up to ~1 Qt/1000 miles with spirited driving.

I believe the oil injector positions have been refined. The FC uses a pair on the lower intake manifold, which is not ideal.

The Renesis uses an electric oil metering pump and has dual oil injectors per rotor housing
