The Rx-4 project, daily driver, 206 rwhp n/a

Here is a project I've worked on last year, and it was completed about 6 months ago. We found it in ohio, sitting for the last 14 years. Has 52,000 original miles on it, and the interior was near perfect. Rust, very very minor. So me and friends stripped it down to bare metal, and primed and painted it with base coat clear coat. Then POR 15 the engine bay, and anwhere else surface rust was developing. And dropped in a 13BRE from a cosmo.

Specs-

1976 Mazda Rx-4
R1 rx7 driver seat
stock suspension with new shocks, and lowered springs
stock brakes with new componets
nice new 13" tires
stock 4-speed tranny
Carbon RPS clutch

1995 Cosmo RE engine
Street ported
9.7:1 n/a rotors
stock seals
balanced
scalloped
Haltech F10 ecu
MsD 6al
FC ignition coils

Crappy header, going to 3" exhaust, and three borla XR mufflers

Power-
206 rwhp and 151 rwtq [on our dyna pack, which reads lower than most]
(would get more with a real header)

Best quarter mile with the 13" crappy tires-

14.4 @ 99.7mph, 2.1 sec 60 foot

Here is how I found the car, pretty good shape really!

Yeah, that is the part I was pissed about, everything that could be un-bolted I had dipped to remove all the rust. When the hood came back, it looked like someone walked all over it. They did not take responsibility, and I cannot find a replacement anywhere

Good Job!

Good to see another SEXY! RX-4 on the road!

Where did you get the lower springs? I got to lower my front end.

It was a die-grinder special, stiffer and lower, win win.

Yeap, not much choice for us, I checked the Groung Control web page looking for a coilover kit but they dont show one for the RX-4.

I got a GSL-SE suspension I would like to adapt to my car but am trying to find out how much mod is involve, I dont want to have my car down for too long.

Am planning on doing the same to mine this weekend, looks like 2 coils will do!

I think with the right stand the RX-4 will look sexier!!

thanks,

Andres
