Looks really nice. also the colour. My dad has a like new 818 in the basement with around 5000 km on it the same colour.

Do you have the specs on the ports in these housings? Would be helpful to compare to the engine we made for our RX-3 track car! Do you plan on strapping it to the dyno to see what powerband it has?

What gearbox wuill you be running? Make sure to have a grose jet and enough fuel pump in there or it will run lean up top. Without ceramic seals this will be something the engine will not like at all at 9k5 rpm.

48mm ports not sure of the timing, definitely will dyno to see what we are getting out of this motor.

The gearbox is a SA22C turbo gearbox. So will see how that lasts then upgrade from there.

Need to pull the IDA apart and check all the jets chokes and emulsion tube sizes

Your Dads car sounds mint!!!!

Nice clutch and flywheel! We are running racingbeat alu flywheel for TII style clutch. flywheel alone is around 4.6 kg. Must be almost double the inertia of your setupt with the big TII pressure plate we have.

As for the gearbox. it will help a lot if you have a box with closer ratios. I think any street gearbox will have quite short first and 2nd and then difference between the gears will be quite wide. the box we have drops only around 1000 rpm at each gear after 2nd when shifting at 9k. maxes out at 220 kph at 9k5 in 6th gear.

I'm using Rx-8 Rotors, Rx-8 Stationary Gears and Rx-8 Steel seals in this PP. All balanced, 3 window bearings and competition oil pump. Racing Beat reckon the Rx-8 seal are good for 9,500rpm. So we will test that!!!

I think racingbeat means the seals have no problem running 9k5 in rx8 housings without ports. I always was a bit afraid with the steel rx8 seals in a engine with peripheral ports..

as a backup engine for our rx3 I am building now an engine with racingbeat housings and rx8 rotating assembly. will use ceramics in rx8 height and hope they are stiff enough to not flex in the ports..

Yea good points. I'm on the lookout for a close ratio mazda gearbox. Quite a few guys are running sequential boxes here now, but currently out of my league.

I've read somwhere that rx-8 seals are not good with peripheral exhaust also..

It’s been a while ..

On track late last year, we won our class and came second overall for the season against some strong turbo Rx7 competition

Note bonnet trying to escape form car!

Ended up using 15x10 with Hoosier 275/30/15 slicks
