So yeah, we're still waiting on pricing. I told Rick, however, that I now have 10 windshields spoken for, depending on pricing, and that's not including Jesuscookies or the 5 people who haven't replied w/ their name, address and phone.

If everyone's okay with the pricing, there's no reason we can't get new windshields, provided that Rick is able to find pricing soon.

I'll keep everyone posted, and I'm sorry it's taking so long.

I think I asked this before, but does anyone know if they will fit in a 4 door?

The bad news is that they will NOT fit a 4-door. Many people have tried and have cracked glass as a result. The frame is the same size, but the 4-door has less curvature to it.

The good news is that Rick has 4-door glass in-stock, or at least he did not long ago. Call him up at 1.800.553.8134 and drop my name, if you would. A little extra credibility couldn't hurt. If he doesn't have any (and he's nearly the only guy that would), he might be able to work a 4-door windshield into our order. It's worth asking, anyway.

Rick,

Should have no problem selling 20 windshields. Even if half the people on this group buy flake. You can't find them anywhere, and as evidenced by this thread, so there is a need. Hell, me and a buddy want to buy 2, just to have as backup's. As long as the price is not too outrageous, I am in for 2.

Also, I may be speaking out of school here, but how hard is it to have someone in the states do a run and make a small batch? All they need is a window to make the mold right? someone has to have that mold.

That's not a bad idea. I don't know what's involved in making a batch, but it's worth looking at. Also, if someone knows another vintage glass place, I don't like getting yanked around by Rick. He knows a lot of people, but hasn't been too responsive. If anyone knows another glass shop that might help us out, let us know.

My front glass will be coming out when the car goes in for a respray. This is still 6 months away. But, if we do not have something by then, I would be willing to offer up my glass to make a mold out of.

You haven't heard anything becasue Rick still hasn't gotten a hold of the glass. If anyone knows of someone that can track down old glass, I've got a dozen orders lined up, based on the response here.

I'm sorry to have let y'all down, as I've got a fresh shell from the bodyshop and desperately need glass in the coming months, too. I'll contact Rick again tomorrow, but it would be very helpful if y'all could find one or two old body shops, let them refer a glass guy to you, and see if he'll do some legwork for a dozen orders.

4-door glass can still be bought from Iowa glass, and they're the only source I've found for it. There's currently no 2-door glass to be found in the states, and Rick at Iowa had tracked down the original supplier in the UK. As a last resort, Windscreens O'Brien in Australia sells them new and apparently buys from the same UK source that Iowa was trying to work with.

We could definitely use the help, Russo, and I count 10 people for a total of 12 orders on the 2-door windshields. If you can work something out, I can forward the list of everyone's info to you. I've had two people ask about 4-door and referred them directly to Iowa.

Oh hell yeah. I was randomly looking for windshield websites and came across one in the UK that was laid out exactly like Windscreens Obrien in Aus. You might think that they're partners somehow, or that perhaps they're the UK supplier that Obrien buys through.

You'd be right.

I don't want to flood the place with calls from the US which they can't really act on, but will PM the info to Russo. I spoke to a woman in the UK today (1120 pm her time) and they'll call back at 9am. They confirmed that they DO have the glass in their network, so now I need to find the cheapest way to get it here. The best part is that now I can do it without going through Rick at Iowa, as they'll ship locally or we can go through a US shop.

I'll be in touch.

Read Page 1 and call them. I have no idea how much, and I imagine they're in Iowa.

ok guys here's the info...

$325 + shipping/tax for the coupe windshield
$350 + shipping/tax for the 4 door windshield

there is a 10 unit buy in for the 4 door (since they have to make them per order) and there's a 6 month wait for both.. i'm waiting on a call back from them to see if i can get these drop shipped to your local body shop/commerical address... pm me with your info so i can get a list together!

Rick now has RX-2 Coupe glass in-stock. Problem is, he didn't stick to the $325 we had originally discussed. PPG Vintage Auto Glass (formerly Iowa Glass) has the windshields at $395 apiece, and shipping to a business address is $125. It's pricey, but they're now available. Rick can now be reached at 877.855.8100

Did anyone followup and buy a windshield from Rick? The company got bought and didn't care about a group buy, but supposedly would sell them delivered on an individual basis.
