He doesn't need them yet, but it's the next step. I'm actually surprised he's ready to buy 10 windshields given that he's only got 4 buyers (I think). By all means, give him a call to remind him that we're anxious for the glass.

Rick at Iowa Auto Glass is getting everything together. He's currently trying to avoid importing British glass through Australia, and is trying to buy directly.

He currently has 7 buyers which is more than enough, so he wants to go ahead and make this happen. If he can get it directly, then it'll be cheaper, but even through Aus, it won't be too bad with all of us splitting the shipping. Call.

Obrien buys windshields from a company in the UK. If Iowa glass in the US (a retailer) can't get them directly, then the plan is to buy from Obrien.

 

I know i kinda flaked out but bills came up around christmas time. Is this still happening?

 

There's no reason it can't. I just got hitched and there was no way in HELL I was gonna get away with buying a windshield while "we" were pooling money together for the wedding. I'm back from the honeymoon and will call Glen on Wed. morning.

 

I hear you on that im currently "saving" money for our wedding in june. Its ok to spend 1400 bucks on flowers but I get **** for a 2-300 dollar car part.

Well, I've tried Rick every day for the last 2 weeks and haven't gotten him in person. I'll leave a message every now and then, but just can't get a hold of him. Maybe he's on the road - who knows. If anyone happens to call and catch him, please post up here and let me know. There's enough interest that he's willing to buy the glass we need as well as enough spares to fill the rest of the crate (last time we spoke, anyway).

 

Alrighty. I finally got an update, but it's not terribly good news. Rick will have to order 20 windshields, and is not buying them from the retailer in Australia, but will buy from the manufacturer. In order for him to commit to 20 pieces of glass, he needs 10 firm customers and recalls six or so off the top of his head. I'll send a PM to anyone that I know is interested, but we don't have 10 guys right now.

The only way for us to know when we've got 10 buyers is if we manage it here on the forum, so PM me directly if interested and I'll keep track of it.

We'll be buying the windshields from Iowa Glass, like anything else. They just happen not to carry these and are only willing to buy a crate if we can buy half of them. They'll ship them from Iowa like normal, whether you want it delivered to you or to your local glass shop.
