My dream is....
Chevy S-10 Cyclone frame and running gear.
Modified 20b w/ modified automatic.
REPU Cab and Bed.
Mix it all together with alot of unforseen headache and problems.....
One 400hp, All Wheel drive, Rotary pickup.
Anyone remember what Cyclones were running in the quarter mile with a 280hp turbo 6????

They had 110 at 6000 rpm. and 117 tourque at 3500 rpm. ( http://www.mazdarepu.com/RoadTrack.html ) They were not slow stock at all. thats why a good old 4 port motor with street port and a header and a good Weber IDA intake will net some serious HP especialy if the port is aggressive, likely around 160-180 mabe more and those are conservative numbers too. Also that GSL-SE motor is the 6 port also, so your really limited on your porting, bridge? those are a realy pain though with 1 piece apex seals on the street and all.

Ya if they all ran. Instead only 2 run and are in good condition the others are pretty much all parts. There is one or two that could be restored cus the rust isnt to bad. The trucks are fun but i kinda switched over to rx3 stuff last year, no i am big into those. I work on the rx3 more now than any thing else. If any one ever needs REPU parts just PM me. There are some things i like to hold onto but other stuff i would just rather get rid of it in order to make more room for working on stuff.

I am so dissappointed that the REPU was never sold in Australia. We do, however shoe-horn the rotors into darn near anything that will move including 13bT's into the early 1970's Mazda 1000 mini-trucks (we call them "ute's")... it's a snug fit but there are a couple getting around with one running very low 10's or hi 9's.
Datsun / Nissan 1200 utes are the pick of the whole bunch as they are the lightest of the lot ( the mazda 1000 has a seperate chassis and is a touch heavier), but structural integrity is..... "poor".
THere are a number of Toyota Hilux's with 13bt's, so too Mazda B series, both single and dual cabs. My '86 dual cab may well get a 13bT if finances allow.
On the RX Engineering website there is a 13bT Toyota Hiace van. way cool for a work car!

sorry about my tardyness - I don't check these forums all the time.
Here is the Pac Performance prepped Mazda 1000 ute - it ran a 9.6 at the SuperNats but I think it went 9.3 at the Jamboree
Here is a Datsun 1200 with a 13bT. He scrapped the numberplate on a launch and landed hard, damaging the chassis.

Hey guys! Kool pics. I'm glad to see I'm not the only REPU nut! When I first heard of them, I had to have one. It is my first rotary vehicle. I chose this rare truck over an RX-7, though I will have an RX-7 too.
It took quite a while to find one, but I got a steal on it. A friend just happened to know a guy who had it. He's all in tact, original paint, engine and all. The only dent is the one you can see on the front driver's side quarter panel. He runs good and has all his emblems/grill in perfect condition. i still can't believe I found it right in Austin for a few hundred dollars!!
Edited to change the size of picture--it was way too big!

hmmm...I need to find out what is up with that emblem on the hood. I haven't seen one on any other REPUs. And mine doesn't say "ROTARY POWER" on the tailgate either...

Hey Buzz I like the little "ute". It looks like an R100. I really like the big intercooler.
RepuGirl. I have never seen a REPU with any sorts of hood ornaments. I would guess that it was the attempt of the former owner to set theirselves apart from the crowd. Of course driving a REPU will do that by itself most of the time.
You also must have one of the few male REPU's in existence. All of mine have been "shes"...
