Rotary 70 vw bug

I haven't seen too many but I plan on buying a simple intercooler to shove back there. Since I did all i could to keep the pipes hugging the engine and try to keep it under the deck lid, the lid needs 1 more inch of space... So I just ordered a fiberglass lid with an interesting bumped design in it. My dad came up with a great idea to take the lid and cut a hole in the middle and flush mount the intercooler into the hole but keep the intercooler mounted to the engine. That way, the intercooler has airflow, doesn't constrict the limited amount of space back there even more, and it should add another cool unique factor to the bug. Plus the oil cooler will have to fit at the bottom of the engine where the water lines are because there is a back apron piece that still needs to be painted and put on. The bug is way too low for any kind of speed bump so th oil cooler can't be placed under the engine or else SMASH! haha. ill go check out some watercooled bugs to see what they have done

i am doing a similar project. i have the single turbo instead of the twin turbo though...i am still thinking about the fuel pump though...how much pressure to use and if the stock pressure regulator will work with an aftermarket external fuel pump.

Sweet These bugs and rotaries are great combos it seems. The single turbo will put some more hp i would think. On my setup, I decided to get rid of one of the vacuum regulators that engages the second turbo hoping to turn the sequential turbos into a single reaction. I hope it all works the way I want. In any event, there will be plenty of power to shred some asphalt without a turbo :p Well if my stock fuel pump works fine, then i am sure you will not have any difficulty. In my opinion, it should do the job just fine. I'll let you know hgere soon as my bug will be starting up for the first time in a bout 2 weeks, trying to contact microtech by email takes forever... hhaha

The engine came with the stock ecu and ignitor and coils and MAF. All worthless because there is not a single wiring diagram for the ecu of a cosmo... I decided microtech due to cost, ease of wire it and turn on. I don't need anything fancy and expensive. I'd rather not use any ls1 or ls2 coils as well. In good time all of the project will be done. I give it an ETA of end of august.

UPDATE:
Just bought a universal oil cooler today on the net and a new deck lid that will be modified to fit the car, time to break out some fiberglass resin and shape it up. Pics will be uploaded tomo

I need the wiring diagram for the cosmo 13b TT re engine. I'll take a look at this one and see if anything matches my ecu at all. Thanks but this cosmo engine is a pain to work with since i can't find a wiring diagram specific to it That's the main reason the microtech is my way to go for the most part

Nah, the wiring is totally off the norm. The plug colors don't match and rx7 stuff is off as well. The microtech is an easy put this wire here, put that wire there, tweak this and that and turn it on. Just need it to run is all. I just got emailed back from microtech with a price on bosch coils, lt10s with x4 box. So, i just need to buy it and wire it

I get paid this friday and that should be enough, im only 200 bucks short. those darn shipping fees... hahha. The guy from microtech said shipping will take only 5 days from australia to get all the way to me here in Washington.

Here is a pic of the new deck lid that came in the mail. My idea for the lid is to mold the sides of the lid out to create an extra big lip that meets the body, take a thin piece of balsa style wood and run it across the two humps in the middle to create a smooth scopp look in the hood, and then possible get a fiberglass apron below the lid and mold the oil cooler into the apron and connect the lid and apron together as a single piece. All in time, engine wiring will come first

just got my engine today and split it from the tranny. i really see why u purchased a microtech ecu and coils, the wiring is a mess!!!
do you think they have a ecu/ coil set up for a 13b turbo that is injected?

e deher: Yeah im sure they do, contact the sales department of microtech and if you get brock, he will set you up
dirty-german: It definately is, I thought it already had some unique scoopes in it, and i have to mess with it anyway so i decided to try this lid out. Pics will come when i get started on the molding process.
Just ordered my microtech lt10s ecu, x4 box and bosch coils. Now to just wait impatiently...

Will definately post pics once the unit comes Yeah, if you don't have a cosmo 13b the stock ecu could be used perfectly fine to run it; there are plenty of wire diagrams out there for most of the 13b's.

I have a free-way flyer transaxle. Thinking back, I have either a bus gearbox with standard bug end to match up like stock or I have a super beetle trans with standard end. can't remember which it is. I'll have to ask my father what exactly it was we did. And we have a few transaxles laying around so I don't really remember which one we used :p hahahah. It should hold up to the abuse of daily driving I think
