Well guys, i picked up a 1973 Ford Courier this week. I drove her home and after further inspection, the motor is not worth rebuilding.

So i decided that i was going to pull the motor out and put in something just so i can use it as a daily driver. I have a spare 12a thats been pulled apart, but i figure its going to be easier and more cost effective to swap the 12a in than to do a full rebuild of the stock 1.8.

Tonight i pulled out the engine and trans, and lucky me, the stock driveshaft will work with an rx7 5spd.

On another note, this truck is lighter than a stock 1st gen rx7, and has factory 4.10 gears so sadly i think it will be faster than my rx.

 

i would do it if all the 12a parts are in spec.

curb wieght of a courier is 2515lbs...
curb wieght of a sa-fb is 2300-2500

technically your courier is heavier cool project non the less

 

did you account for the weight differences between the engines?

i always thought it would be cool to build my truck to be as quick as my 7.

 

pretty cool... i always wanted to do a 13b swap to a small truck to be my parts getter. I have missed out on some real great deals cause of no way to transport parts...
