Renises Differences?

Hey I found this picture at http://www.auto-g.jp/news/200212/18/newcar04/index.html

and edited in some arrows so that you could see what I'm talking about.

Side clearanced rotors?
---------------------------
The green arrows show what looks like some bevel cuts on the rotor's trailing edges. Red arrows show that there are no cuts on the leading edges. I'm assuming this is done for a higher redline for the high output model. Does this mean that front and rear rotors will now not be interchangable?

New corner/apex seals?
----------------------------
The blue arrow shows what looks to be a new corner and apex seal design. Notice that the inner soft seal of the corner seal is now a complete cylinder, with no notch for the apex seal. It now looks like the apex seals are shorter too.

Anyhow... interesting stuff...

Brian

Here you go

When you say the apex seals are shorter, do you mean thinner? The pic doesn't give a view of the length of the seal.

looks like a mock up motor to me, not sure how accurate those pics are....tension bolt holes, the e-shaft , no visible balancing on the rotor??? it might not be the finished product, interesting if it is though

its a mockup for sure, well maybe not exactly a mockup, but a 'dummy' motor to show whats going on so I'd say probably pretty accurate.

when he says shorter apex seals, I think he means height wise, as in the apex seals dont go as far into the corner seal as the older type.

and those bevelled trailing edges, it would slighjtly change the port timing, especially for exhaust closing timing, or it could be something to do with emissions too, I know on piston engines reducing the amount of gas trapped between the piston head and top ring helps emissions, and the bevelled cut edges would help that as well.

I'm glad they moved the water seals back into the rotor housings.
