Rear Disk brake conversion using ReSpeed bracket on RX3
I am in process of installing RX7 disk brakes on the RX3 using the ReSpeed bracket. I'd like to install the original RX7 backing plate to mount the flex cable.
It's installation is not obvious. I think I can modify the backing plate and install it outboard of the ReSpeed bracket??
Anybody else tried this???

You can try it. It must be outboard or the axle may travel in and out by the thickness of the dust shield. Our bracket secures the axle in replacement of the stock backing plate.
This will move the dust shield by approx 5/16" it may start to hit the rotor or caliper.

Thanks for the reply!
I've measured the end float on the axles and as best I can determine the bracket eliminates the need for shims to make up the thickness of the original drum brake backing plate, the original shims, and the paper gasket that was installed on the drum brake backing plate.
Can you confirm this?
By the way, I'm very happy with the fit and finish on the ReSpeed braket, nice work!

All it has is the RX7 Complete Conversion package, but does not show a good pic of that bracket

Rear Disk Caliper Bracket Details
Hi guys,
I'm hurtin' for a rear disk conversion on my '73 Rx3. I tried to buy the adapter from RESpeed but they refunded my dough and said they've been discontinued.
So.... I guess I'm on my own. In a perfect world I'd be able to track down this info:
Does anyone have a pair?
Does anyone have a template so I could make a pair?
Is there a step by step anywhere on the net that shows how to throw it all on?
I've read a dump load of threads. It's time for me to beg...
Thanks!!
Kelley

Kelly,
I think you meant the parts were not in stock waiting on the new design to be completed. They were never discontinued.
They are back up and listed for the design:

Was that directed to me, Mel? Not sure I remember.
The changes were made to the brackets so they could serve for 3 kits:
1) Rx2, Rx3 to GSL
2) Rx2, Rx3 to GSL-SE
3) 1979-1983 to GSL
The GLS-SE conversion needed more clearance so I moved the bracket to the back of the axle. i am also working on 84-85 drum to disk, as well as 1979-1983 drum to FC turboII

yup, i suggested to take this route to cut cost/time on your first rear disc brake kit. the one above is very similar to my set-up from Rotary Power. And it is a good idea to have a kit handy for the 1st genners also. you will make lots of them happy since there is no need to buy a complete GSL rear end.

The only two issues we ever see is if:
A) the contents of the cart are more than 70 pounds (USPS.com error)
B) The address used is not the exact same as your billing address for the credit card. (fraud protection)

Re speed rear disk conversion
Hmm,
I've tried a few times now. No luck. Last time I dealt with RE-Speed I used my Canadian card and shipped to Seattle... (diff address than biller)
Anyway. If there's any other method of doing this.. I'm all eyes. All I can say is that I want them and if I could complete the process I would buy them. I just can't find anything else to change to make the site happy.
I can't even find a "contact" link to deal with this through the site. Ok ok.. now I'm starting to bitch like a baby so I better go.
