possible brakes for rx2

I have a guy working on some brakes for my rx2. If we can do it cost effectivly we will make an upgrade kit, it wont be any big brake kit or anything like that. It will be a direct replacement upgrade using the stock calipers with a vented and grooved rotor. We are also working on replacement brake lines. Since my car is going to be the test mule and ginea pig so to speak I will keep you all posted.

Let me know if there would be of any true interest for a kit like this. I am sure it will be much more cost effective than anything else I have seen.

I'm interested in seeing what you come up with. I'm using an RX-3 MC on my RX-2 right now because I couldn't find one and it's underpowered. My brakes are pretty poor. Are you strictly modding the rotors or are you thinking about any other improvements (aside from hoses)?

thanks

I am not 100% sure but I think we are going to put bigger calipers on as well. I want to have more pad as well as a vented rotor. I have to see what it looks like after I get the rotor on as far as what has to be done for it to be worth it braking wise as well as cost effective and direct bolt on. After I get everything figured I will make up a direct bolt on kit.

Hopefully the master will either be able to handle it or I can find an easy swap for the master as well. The car the brakes are coming off is quite a bit heavier than an rx2 so it shoul be a very noticable improvement over the stock brakes.

alright, keep us posted. The brakes are pretty weak on the 2 as you know, so a few of us would love to have an improvement kit.

I dont even know how they stop with that little non vented rotor. If you were to track or auto x the car the brakes would be overheated in the first 5 min.

I will keep you posted. It will probably take a couple weeks to get everything ready.

could be used.

Now, in what way is the spindle angle wrong?
I have an Rx2 that I want to do this to, and I knew a guy who did it years ago.

I am getting closer to finishing the brakes, I ended up doing disks on the rear as well. Rotary power has a nice adapter to use the 82 - 85 gsl rear brakes. I am just waiting for the parts to arive and then I need to make the brake lines and its done.

Oh yeah I still have to make the bracket for the front caliper but thats not a big concern.

Just wanted to push this back up so I dont forget it when I have them done.

I'd be interested in a kit, just picked up a '73 a couple weeks ago that I may try auto-x with. I didn't know it was possible to bolt on rear discs, thought you had to swap the entire rear end on RX-2s. Guess it's been awhile since I've looked at one.

Update...

I got the new front rotors and they went on no problems at all , very clean and simple. I was hoping to use the stock caliper but that isnt going to work, its not wide enough. So now I am waiting on the rest of the parts to come in.

The new front rotors are a little larger in diameter and a little thicker and they are vented. They are also drilled and slotted ( same as ebc )

I think once I get it all on there and ajusted this thing might actually stop !

As soon as I get it all in my hands I will take some pix, when it all works I will share info on how you can do the same. I dont want to toss out a bunch of parts info untill I know it will actually work. And correctly.

I will keep you all posted.

I'm definitely interested. I plan on keeping my 2 LONG past that day when we can't find parts at all, so I'd like to convert what I can to RX-7 running gear. I know we're all very interested...

I should be picking most of the parts up today. Then all thats left is the lines and the front mount plate.

Everything is rx7 except the front rotors

I got the parts but I over calculated on the front calipers. I need to go smaller. I have been too busy with other things to work on it lately. I am pretty close though
