performance and reliability?

Hello all,
I have just aquired an 83' GSL it is a little rough around the edges but it seems to run really well, it is a total bastard to start but once it warms up it is good to go!
the clucth is slipping and the front of the engine leaks oil right at the seam where some steel cover meets the aluminum rotor housing.
I own a custom auto shop and we build alot of custom and race prep cars, this is my first RX-7 all I know is in the early 80's my room mate had one and my 280-Z would wipe it's ***! on a regular basis so I never gave them much credit.
however 18yrs later my friend that owns a sports car repair shop brought me a 10th anneversary turboII of his to paint and I drove it and said HELL YEA! it is tuned and different b.o.v. and lots of APEXi stuff runs awsome so here is my queistion......

his floods very easy on cold start and lacks power till it is up to temp.
Mine seems to be the same (83GSL) is there a common cold start problem with rotor motors?
is the 83 (no major rust) worth tuning on, or is it easy to see power gains with out sacrificing drivability?

Here is a good one..........I CURRENTLY OWN 3 HONDA CRX'S AND THEY RESPOND WELL TO FORGED PISTONS AND ALOT OF NITROUS! will the mazda hold up to the same treatment?
will nos burn any internals on stock motors used within reason?
are the good daily drivers as far as low maintanance?

I would like to make this a sweet looking sleeper and take it to street night at the track! some one have pitty and help me out alittle til I get the feel of this new toy.
Thanx
John

You might want to get a moderater to move this post to the 1st or 2nd gen forum... you would get alot more responses there... a 13b is stronger and has WAY more power potential then ANY honda motor... You can run allot of nitrous and or boost on stock motors... as long as its well tuned...
