Yes I will post up progress as I go. I have to go get my SE and bring it to my house then I can pull the rear from it.

Chiefboon- I love it up here a little snow and ice is better than all the rain I am use too from where I grew up (vancouver island). I was surprised how well the carpet came out to for a spray die/paint.

Buggy- I should be starting this on the weekend if not a little earlier, let me know when you start your swao. are you thinking of going leaf or fabbing in the stock Rx-7 suspension setup?

Elrotary.... There will have to be some welding, I am going to either cut the stock leaf purches off the stock axle and weld them on in the same orientation onto the SE rear. or I will build replicas and have them weled on.

Well my swap got put off for a bit. I didnt notice that my parts GSL-SE is missing the thrird member. So it is just an axle housing.

Has anyone fitted an S4 or S5 motor into an Rx-4? I have searched but cannot seem to find anything.

I was planing on staying with the leaf spring setup. I was going to get a custom set of leaf springs made though to lower the car and stiffen it up a bit. As for your question about the S4 S5 engine swap. I was originally planning on going that route. All you really need are a GSL-SE oil pan, oil pick up tube, and front cover. The S4/S5 engine should just bolt in otherwise. Of course if you're keeping it FI you will have to wire in the computer and such or go stand alone.

I can't see why not. I didn't have that option when I was going to do the swap but I guess you do. Those parts should work just fine.

Need to keep the Escentric shaft pulley from rx4 also, because if not you will not be able to set timming with the one from the s4 or s5 with an rx4 front cover.

Well I havent done much with the 4 in quite awhile, mud season and my Jeep have taken over my interest right now, but it will dry up soon and it will be back to the car again.

Does anyone know if the stock Rx-4 diff is a lsd or is it just open?

So everything in the front end of the car (suspension bushing wise) looks like new and is in really good shape except for the bushings that the sway bar goes into on the control arms. They are gone, very little left and completely unrecognizable.. can any tell me if these ones are right to replace my non existant ones....... Unless of course if the sway bar is suppose to slop around in the control arm which I am pretty sure its not lol

OK got my 2nd Rx-4 on the weekend and I started a list of things to swap over to my car. The list is long but by the end I should have a complete car.
The only thing I am having trouble with is getting the ignition off the steering clumn. I have no idea how to get it off and have it reusable in my car. Can anyone give me some advise?

Take some pics of the ignition for me. I can't exactly remember how it comes apart, but I had mine apart. I'm sure I can guide you on how to go about the removal of it.

Yeah! Got the headliner out of the car last night and installed into my car. It was a complete pain to get everything nice and tight but it looks awsome.. Aslo took a quick minuite and shined up the mazda badge for the trunk lid.

Buggy here is a crappy pic of the igniton, I will have to get better ones tonight

Can I use a 12A Dizzy in a 13B so I can get rid of the whole points system?
Anyone have a link to the best write up for doing the swap?

yes...divindriver or t-gfarrel might be able to help you on this one. Both have 79 sa rx7's and I believe the converted to the less maintenance hungry design.

You can convert to a newer electronic dizzy very easily. Or you could do what I did and convert to the DLIDFIS system. Just need an extra coil which you likely have now. It does create somewhat of a wiring mess but with some care and time it can be cleaned up to look nice. It also confuses a lot of people at car shows...

Yeah I made a msd direct fire for frenchies car with 2 msd 6al boxes... I may do that again but only use 1 box. But I am not sure how to wire in everything... do you have a link to a write up or some pointers?
Also Buggy are you interested at all in a front end swap for your 4?
