Well it was nicw the other day so I got a chance to paint the interior roof and side panels throughout the car. Also took some ckeaner to the rear interior vynal and it came out like new, does not look almost 40yrs old

OK I got alot done this weekend on the interior. put in some new sound deadner and some new underlay, I still have to dye the carpet but for now I am just test fitting everything to make sure I dont have too much insulation.
For what its worth I chiseled almost 50lbs of that tar off the bottom of the car and relaced it with less than 10lbs of new deadner and I double layered it before putting the insulation in.
[B]Old nasty underlay that stank like mouse swass.
New underlay and some carpet test fitting
Half put together and everything fits nicely

OK got some work done on the trunk yesterday. pulled the spare tire pocket and I will have a plate made up to cover the hole in the next couple days. I removed the bin because I want to run two exhast tips out the back, I am not a fan of single side exhaust.
And the rear bumper....... It is really too bad someone pushed this car with a loader, the chrome is in really good condition, it is so unfortunate I will have to get this bumper fixed I took a little chrome polish too it and it really shines up.

Great Job. If you are still looking for a headliner, I found one for my rx4 sedan from Auto headliner Mart, Here is the info they emailed me with contact info:

Talked to them about a headliner and they have patterns for all the Rx models. Under 200 bucks shipped to my door. Thanks again fromundr.

That's some good work. The car is coming together very quickly.
What are you going to do about a spare tire now? I've learned the hard way, always have a spare. A can of Fix-A-Flat doesn't cut it.

A bit of progress again over the last couple days, cleaned up the tranny and repainted it, then put it in the car
Now for the carpets.... they are old and sun faded... due to the fact that I live in a tiny little town I could not find any carpet dye... so I tried out some duplicolor carpet paint... After hearing horror stories about hard carpets and blotching I was hesitent but I tried it out on my jeep carpets and it worked great. dont paint the carpet just mist it and let it soak up the color. It definatly brought the life back to my carpets for onlt 10 bucks
Here is a pic of the unpainted front carpet beside the rear with a couple coats of paint
And just some hard work polishing 30 years of tree sap off the reverse lights
I has been a busy weekend

Aaron, I am not to worried about taking a spare as most of the driving will be local and it will be trailered for long distances. Other than that I will just throw a plug kit and a can of tire goo, and hope for the best lol

Hey Smack daddy are you going to paint the engine bay before you drop the motor in? I did on my Rx2 before it went to paint. Once you choose what color you want buy a primer, a pint of paint, reducer, a good 2 stage clear in a can($30 a can) and then use a preval paint system from hardware store. The Preval has a little jar that screws on the bottom of the spray can. This allows you to paint actual automotive paints from a can. This way I painted my bay factory flare yellow and got the car running before sending it to paint. That way you wont have to run the muscle car flat black. lmk if you want more details.

I will get in touch with you in the spring when things warm up, paint doesnt like to work in -25*C
I havent done much in this extreme cold but i was able to buy brand new swaybar bushings for only 9 bucks lol

Yeah progress has been slow, I lost my left leg a few years ago and the other day I had a bad fall and hurt my leg so I have been stuck in my wheelchair for 10 days now. hopefully I can put my leg on and get back at it soon

Back on 2 legs and back at her, When I got the car the front windows did not roll down and frankly wouldnt budge. Took out the regulators and straighted a couple bars then greased everything up and viola they both work.
Now a problem I ran into, some of the white crcle washers that isolate the brackets from the glass, are broken as well as the little rubber sliders for the brackets to travel in the glass run are also no good.
I had enough of them to put 1 window back in but not enough to do another window.
Where can I get parts for the window regulator?
Did Rx-7's use these same white washers and the same rubber blocks?
Here is a quick pic of the car outside on the weekend

Pulled the rear end last night to start getting ready to fit a GSL-SE rear end in.
Pulled the brake booster assembly and clutch master cylinder and replaceing them with new ones from an 84 Rx-7

a. The interior is coming along very nicely, very surprised how nice the carpet looks -- well done.
b. I cannot believe the weather... ever consider moving to a more sportscar-friendly environment?
