New Rotary from India?

Might be old, I tried searching but didn't find anything.
They say they have solved the cooling issues.

Nothing new here. Those Indians are treading well-worn paths. There is no cooling problem. There is no apex seal problem. What there is, is an efficiency problem, due to shape of the combustion chamber. The wankel will NEVER achieve thermal efficiency on par with current tech piston engines because it has an inherent handicap in it's geometry.

It was quite hilarious how the narrator described the wankel as fuel efficient. The whole video seems to suggest that these people are just now discovering the concept and are trying to develop it without reading about anything that anyone else has done in the last 50 years.

They are not doing anything here but developing an existing engine, the same thing that most of the guys on this site do in their own garages. Gotta give the test pilot credit for going up in that crate.

Don't believe the hype about India being a new high-tech wonderland. They are still 20 years behind China. Believe me, I live in New Delhi.

Looks remarkably like the air-cooled wankel snowmobile engine from years back.

The small piston engines they would be building it to compete with are simple 2 strokes, in comparison with those a rotary can be fuel efficient, it can also likely be manufactured cheaper, consume less premix oil, emit less pollutants and be less sensitive to fuel quality.

Here is an update on the new high tech and business friendly India. Tata Motor's new Nana plant in West Bengal has been put on hold indefinately.
This was caused by a protest by farmers who previously owned land on which the factory was built. Now there will be fewer jobs in the area and the farmers will have still lost their land. It another incident of the vicious circle of Indian politics.
Moral of the story? Don't take flight in an Indian rotary powered glider.

In a way it's a shame. I wouldn't mind there being a source for small displacement wankels to use in motorcycle and go cart type projects.
