Mazda REPU History report

Hi All

I recently bought a 75 REPU from the US, and it's currently being shipped over to Europe. As i'm preparing a couple things for the registration, 1 particular thing i've been struggling with is to get a 1. Registration Date.
The Title only has the Registration Year on it (1975), but it seems that they're looking for an actual date when it was registered for the first time.
I was trying to utilize the big players on Google, like Carfax, but those mostly don'trecognize the SPA*** VIN which is 12-digits, they expect 17 which was only standardized quite a bit later.

So in that regard i'm trying to find someone, ideally from the US, that could help me figure out what the first reg date was.
Car comes from Pennsylvania, however the car was not having a license plate there what the seller told me, so if that's of importance i'd need to check with him in which state it was registered last, to potentially find some information on that there.

Thanks for the help everyone

Cheers

Hi Map,

Carfax and other history reports only go back as far as 1981. I think I would try to get help from the Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles ( dmv.pa.gov) and try to back track from there. I seriously doubt that they can give you the first registration date, however. A 45 year old truck mostly likely has had many owners from different States. I know that DMVs in the U.S. purge the database of non active VIN numbers after so many years. If the truck has stayed in Pennsylvania since new, they would probably have that in their database. If the truck came from another State, the first registration date may never be found. I think if you worked with your local government to obtain some sort of waiver if possible (First registration date undetermined?)

Congratulations on your new pickup!

Hi both

THanks a lot for your replies

John: Yep that's what i know. I do know that the last owner (dealer) did not really register it, he only prepared it up again so it works, but it's not the prettiest truck so needs some body work, no major rust tho. Well i guess i'll just try to see what the guy at the registration tells me once i register it for the registration in the next few months, which again depends when the whole Corona stuff is over, until then these are mostly locked down and closed anyway...

KansasCityREPU Thanks for the link, it's really interesting. Apparently mine was built in 10/74, however that won't help if the governmental bodies want to know an explicit date. But as i said before, i'll see what they say if i get to them, i'll tell them the info i got, if it's not sufficient i'll either try in another place (as silly as it sounds , some places ask for different information, and i learnt from a friend who imported an old camara who had the same problem, that he just went to another place and there they didn't want to see the specific first registration date

Thanks again all of you, i'll post an update once i get to do the registration piece.

To find that information out your best bet would be to try and track down the vehicle history through the DMV in the USA somehow. Here in Ontario Canada when you purchase or transfer a vehicle ownership you get a used vehicle buyers package which includes a list of all previous owners and the dates they were registered right back to when it was sold new.
