Mazda Furai update

I have been loving the looks and performance specs of this car from the start. This would be exactly what I would want to drive for street and track. I have not seen any indication of this car being sold though. Even a glimmer of hope, like say 2011? I know the cost will be nuts. If anyone hears anything post it up here.

Thanks

I always thought it was just a running concept car. No car will be released by mazda that looks like it, just parts of it. The Furai does look cool but I think I like the timeless style of the 3rd gen better.

Just a concept car. It's supposed to be a race car anyway.

It IS a race car. There is absolutely nothing streetable about it. Not even by the crappy standards that many people in the rotary community define it as. The Furai is the ALMS series Courage C65 that BK Motorsports raced for a couple of years and retired 2 ago. They've taken that car, built a body around it, given it a name, and have been showing it off. It's an image thing as it even runs on Ethanol. Yay. The engine is a 3 rotor peripheral port engine built by Racing Beat. They actually just rebuilt it again within the past couple of months since the engine blew somehow.

Don't ever expect a halo car like the GTR to come out from Mazda. It will never happen and this isn't a sign of things to come. They had the car and it wasn't going to be used anymore. May as well have some fun with it and get some PR in the process.

yea that ***** never going to come out as a street legal car. neither will a new rx7. and if a new rx7 does its probably going to suck. its just a rotary enthusiasts dream that mazda will produce a worthy rx7 to succeed the FD will ever come about or that they are going to make a street legal rotary super car too.

It's not a concept car. It's a finished race car.
