Insurance question

Tried getting a classic car policy with AAA for $10,000 on my repu. They said no way. Anybody have a full coverage replacement policy and with who?

the only way is to show them actual receipts for all upgrades such as rims, new motor, tranny, paint job, interior work etc etc.

I have full insurance on my 77 SP. It is insured for 27.5K. The insurance company Farmers Insurance and my agent is James Burton, Jr. His number is 661-637-1300and he's located in Bakersfield, CA but he can insure at least all over the state. All I had to do was get an appraisal from a licensed appraisor and I actually used the one Farmers referred me to. The appraisal is in writing and cost me about 100 bucks. If you have any questions let me know. And in case any of you think the appraisal was high, I think the car is really worth about 30-35K. In case you're wondering it's the vehicle that used to be owned by islandsnow and is in extremely pristine original condition with a few minor suspension mods.

One more thing, Farmers will write a classic car policy up to 10k without the appraisal. Then if it's a total loss you will have to do what wacky said (show receipts, etc). If you want coverage for more than 10k you get the appraisal up front and it's a done deal. Good luck

Update

I went to AAA (not geico) for classic insurance in my 73 and 75 RX-3's. Each one has a policy for $20,000 (full coverage) and 2,500 miles per year, my annual premium for both vehicles is $400 only. They inspected the car for free and no receipts to show.

Yup hagerty. my Skyline is covered for 25K full coverage 300 buck a year, road side assistance, towing, etc. etc. All you need to do is send in your photo's and mod's, they have a data base of all cars from all auto manufacturers.

good luck...

insurance info

Yup...Hagerty is probably the best and most well known for this type of coverage. I've got a multi-car policy with my '73 duece, my '72 240z, and believe it or not my '91 rx7 vert, all full coverage with agreed replacement values for all three vehicles...total premium for the year, $608. I use an agent (broker) in Corona who writes lots of these policys. His name is John Barlow, phone # 800 558-7772. Good luck

Thanks for reviving the thread. I've never looked into it further. I still just have liability only. I need to get on the ball and give Hagerty a call.

Yeah, I saw that. The only thing I can think off is this senior citizen got into an accident that was still being investigated when I got the insurance on the duece.

Hey come wash my car this weekend. I'll provide the soap.
