I want to buy. What do you think? part 2
The search continues. I wanted to get the forum's opinion on this one. It has no engine or tranny. I saw some rust around the windows, two minor dents and interior is not so good.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Washington

Hello wkubillus1
i guess all depends on your intentions for the car and your mechanical skills. The cleaner the car the more you will pay, of course! in rough shape, you will have more work, but the money you save, (if any) will give you a connection with your car. a labor of love!
You will know the car inside out and not someones cover up of bondo, and rats nets under the dash.
as you know, this cars are getting harder and harder to find and the price is only going to get higher!
there's and old man down the street from me with a RX-2, no engine, no tranny he is asking $3,000.00 as is! because people tell him the car is rare!! i just wait for him to die and get it at the state sale!
Good luck,
Andres

You need to figure out what you want to do.
Do you want to restore one? or buy one in good running condition?
In So-Cal. unless you get very lucky, a non-running, clapped out duece will cost you about 2K. Then figure another 4K-6K to get it going. If you want a decent running one the prices will go up from there.
If you find a really clean example, you can pay anywhere for 6K to 8K, maybe even more.
Anyways best of luck on your search.

Like they have said, it depends. Is this the car you really want? Like...absolutely want it! Are you willing to put ALOT of work to it? Will it fit your budget? If your answer is yes then I say take it!
First off, how much is it? Is there rust on the chassis? Make sure there isn't or else your better off buying a boat that doesn't float on water. If there are rust in almost any spot I'm pretty that can be taken cared of. I say, the junkier the better (price wise) just not too junky, pretty much...if it isn't repairable then forget it.

That car looks pretty straight, and it looks all original and complete, so if you want an all original proj to restore like original than thats the car, but if your looking for a street rod or somin like that i would find one that isnt that original, but its up to you. depending on price it looks good.

I didn't know Juan was selling his Duece. Anyway, if you think that interior is bad, you haven't seen many old Mazda's. They get much worse. That car is pretty clean and as long as the price is where I think it should be, you're getting a very complete and solid RX-2 there. You need to look at the cost for parts as well. That car has just about all it's trim on it and the glass is in good shape. That alone is worth the price of admission. IMO. Good luck.

I know where this car is. It's no longer for sale. I guess I forgot to look at the date from the original post. But the car still is in the same shop and I recognized the backround. Oh well.
