13B Go Kart
So me and a few others had the idea of taking a 13b and adding some wheels, maybe a seat and hopefully a steering wheel. Anyone else tried something similar. I don't think that 50 hp motor will be enough so i thin k the 13b would be a beast. Dunno about size but to make it work . . . I have most of the tools just parts are what i need. Once i get an engine ill start junkyard fishing.

well I've thought of it I got more then enough engine parts to build motors with LOL. My self I was thinking more along the line of useing a 12a. You'd still have more then enough power at over 100 in stock form, and you don't need all the electronics to run it. as for the design I'd go rear engine and one of two ways A vw trans axle and make it a two seater with a frame built based around the engine transaxle unit. and just legal enough to title as a buggy. Or go true go cart and make a sproket to bolt on a rear counter weight and a straight axle sproket chain driven. single seater and just a header or two straight pipes about 2 feet long out the back. would be loud as hell, but fun. Damn now I actually want to build it again, but then where the hell to enjoy it?

I can think of a ton of illegal places to have fun, if built right you shouldn't be able to be caught lmao.
OH NO PO PO, oh wait im on a rotary lemme just push this peddle and vroooooooooooom off into the sunset.
Now back to the topic at hand.
I think that having the engines rotational axis parallel to the drive would be a bad idea. Sure you can have direct power but if something goes wrong there's a hella lot of shrapnel in you're plane to deal with.
is there any way to convert a 13b to a corroborated one?

A kart with 50hp will get to 60mph in less than 3 seconds. A Kart with that kind of power potential will damn near fly...

It solves the tranny issue, right out of the box, the engine is smaller, lighter and more powerful.
I always wanted to build an open wheel formula car (smaller though) with a 1000cc race bike engine. Try to get the car to weigh less than 1000lbs w/ driver. Like the SAE series, but not for an autocross course, for a full road course. I think that would be soo much fun! 16K RPM right behind your head! Some of those 1000cc engines are approaching 200hp now. It would be a ridiculous ride if you got it right.
Ahh...some day when I get a shop...

If you do use a rotary engine I would go with a variable pitch pulley type transmission. Like what snowmobiles have it would solve the clutch problem and its compact.

Wow I just read this and I so like the idea of getting an old 10A or 12A putting in a PP intake with some webers and having one kick *** little toy. Might just have to see how crazy it can be.
