Talking Fs: 1973 Rx-2 - $3,200

ok well I decided to go ahead and sell the RX-2 four door I just got a few months ago. As some of you know I got the car with intensions of making it a fun little street car that I can do what ever I want to since it is a non smog car.

Since then I have gotten married, went on the honey moon and just bought a house which was totally unexpected. Long story short, I simply don’t have the time or money right now to do this project. With the new house and the RX-8 as a toy, it is time to get rid of the project I never got to start.

I paid $3,000 plus the $200 I paid to have it current registered until July 2007. $3,200 and it's yours.. I don’t want any more then I paid since I have yet to do anything to it. I literally bought it, and put it in my garage.

The car is rough around the edges, needs a good cleaning up, and a good "putting stuff back on" day. There are some parts sitting in the trunk that were removed from the previous owner.

The car has a bridged 6 port. Nice BRAP BRAP BRAP. I am told it was built by R&R Rotary. there is something wrong with the Delorto 48 carbs as the car starts right up but does not have a whole lot of power. the previous owner was saying that there is something that is broken in the carb causing it to flood. I never got a chance to take a look at it, but yeah, it smells RICH! Since I bought it in March I have yet to go out there and work on it.

For those of you that are going to ask what the car does when running (since I said it is running poorly). It starts right up with no problems, but when you rev it up it sounds and smells like it is flooding out.

Car also has a second gen tranny in it (no not TII). I am told it has a 1st gen rear end in it. (nice Posi rather then the single track it HAD). The clutch is pretty obvious it is not stock, I would guess stage 2 or 3. (the day I bought it I drove it up to Jack in the box right up the street).

New painless wiring that is 75% completed. (headlights and turn signals need to be finished). the hood is black. Sorry I didn’t get any pictures of it with the hood on. The hood is in ok condition, not great, but no major dents. (The reason I say ok, is it looks like they took the skin off the frame and screwed it back on to the frame. I would have this fixed when getting it painted.)

Interior is not the best. Seats need to be mounted.... in fact I would put a better set of seats in if it were me. The dash needs to be put back together. (not sure how much is or is not in the trunk.) I would also install some carpet while I was in there. (did this once in a Honda, not hat hard to do.. I was surprised) windshield is cracked and needs to be replaced.

Tires look new. car is "Supposed" to run 12.5's when the carb is fixed..... but I have no Idea as I never got to drive it or see it when it was running like it should.... my favorite part about this car is that it is pre smog, nice body, and idles with a nice brap brap brap.

TII tranny, Solid hub 6 puck clutch for the TII tranny, TII flywheel, and 2 new MSD coils come with the car for an extra $400. (good deal considering I have $600 invested in the goodies that I never got to put on. there might even be more included that I forgot about)

other then that I don’t know much about it as I don’t know much about it. the guy before me started working on it, lost his job and was in serious need of money so he sold it.

any more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks guys, It sure seemed like a fun project to me. I wish I could keep it but with everything going on in my life right now it just wouldnt make sence. I would rather see someone finish her then watch her sit in the garage.

anyways, thanks again for the praise guys. free bumps are always welcome.

What a great classic. Make sure you keep us up to date on the build up after you bring it home. Even that color is awesome.

Eric, let me know what the dellorto jets are and I can give my $.02. I also have a box full of dell jets. Of course I'm gettin busy again, just got a new job, but may find some time to help. Could be broken needle & seat or float. I set fuel pressure to 2.25psi on both dells I own which have been on dyno.....

not that is matters now, but Eric and I found a few problems.

1) the spark plugs were not even close to being tight.
2) the spark plugs were non rotary plugs
3) the trailing coil was not sparking at all
4) there was a bolt holding the carb from opening more then about 10% (no wonder it was slow)

after fixing all of these when he came over to take a look the car ran MUCH MUCH better. still not like it should, feels like there still might be a little tuning that needs to be done (no idea what timming is, or fuel settings) but none the less in 2-3 hours we made it run a lit better then when he first got there. still smells way rich.
