fc rew/ rotary miata, who's got em

well. i have a fd engine coming to me in a month.
i have an s4 n/a
i have everything i need to put a cosmo engine in,though the cosmo engine i was getting wasnt worth paying for, found out it was blown. so i am going to bum a FD engine off a buddy. it has a bad coolant seal. if i rebuild it. i can have the engine for free.

so i am looking for people who have done this swap.
i know about the engine mount relocation i have a programable ecu.
i just wanna get in touch with another fc rew person

also i would like to put my s4 n/a engine into a miata. i know the engine bolts to the trani. but i also have questions about that.
please contact me threw pm. or aim: fc3schick87

Programmable ECU won't work... You'll need a full standalone... Also the stock sequential twins will have to go, unless you convert them to NS, in which case they will still be dangerously close to the strut tower... Best bet would be to go with a reasonably sized single turbo, thus necessitating the use of an aftermarket manifold, wastegate, fuel system, custom exhaust work, etc, etc, etc...

programable ecu wont work? i am going stand alone. i will run the twins for a very short time. i wont even be boosting for 1000 miles so i can break it in any way. i will have a custom manafold made for me when i go single turbo. yes i will run the tiwns NS.
i know all about the custom work. but thats why i made this post. i want to talk to some one that has done it. not some one that will assume or go off of what they have hear.
i'm talking bout an fc rew owner.
i dont have many questions at the time. only concern is ecu's wireing harness.

You should be a little more specific as to your definition of "programmable ECU" then... The Rtek is a programmable ECU... The E-Manage Ultimate is a programmable ECU... The HKS F-Con V-Pro is a programmable ECU... None of the above will work with an REW in an FC chassis... A "standalone" however, is a completely independant engine management system that uses almost none of the stock components...

twins will be a pain to make work, even if you run them nonsequential. you cant use the stock downpipe for one things, and im not sure they even physically fit. you really should get a single turbo or even an FC turbo can be bolted on. FC turbo wont be ideal but it will be easier that making the twins fit in there, especially if its only temporary. only problem might be coolant/oil lines, im not sure how similar they are between FD/FC. the other big obstacle is engine mounts. pehraps you could switch to an FC or -RE center plate since you are rebuilding anyway? this will allow you to use the -re mount adaptors or stock FC mounts. im not sure if that could work but it is an option i would explore.

yeah it will be strictly temporary , just wnat to turn it on and tune it and have it at least running. i wont even boost it till after i broken in the engine any way since the rew is being rebuilt. so i guess i will go tii turbo . that will work. as for mounting. i found a cradle for it that mounts up to stock mounts for 250$

Here is a 94 miata that we stuffed a streetported 13B-REW, GT35R, Water/meth inj, etc etc into for a customer. It is running a Power FC for EM. It also has the FD trans and the FD Diff.

Here is a link to the entire project: http://www.banzairacing.net/thorson_rebuild.htm
