Engine turn over advice

Hello guys, looking for advice -

I've had a complete 13b on a engine stand for over ten years. In that time, I would turn it over every couple of weeks to a month on a regular basis.

Recently I had to remove and replace the oil pan to fix leak issues, its been bone dry for almost 3 months. Also removed intake to clean it up.

Any suggestions on proper lubrication, before turning it over.

Thanks in advance!

Squirt some oil thru the intake and hand crank the motor.

Crank the motor without the spark plug wire. Once you have oil pressure, reconnect the wires and start

I got one that had sat for at least 15 years, so I put it on a stand with the Rotary engine adapter, piulled the plugs, and did what Siraniko said. But, I let it sit for a day, then turned the whole assembly 90 deg, waited a day, and did it again before I attepted to move the internals. Rolled over just fine, and has a nice coat of clean oil inside for start up (if that EVER happens....).

Thanks Siraniko & CamanoRx2! I wasn't sure if I should go with oil, WD40, or something else.

I'm also in the same boat.... someday it'll run. LOL

One more thing, as far as oil weights go, 5/30W 10/30W? does it make a difference?

For soaking it to keep the seals from sticking, no. I like to run a 20W/-50 in them. I've never had an oil related failure. Cooling and abuse, yes.

Yours will run someday. You are WAY more on it than me...

You can squirt oil thru the spark plug holes too. WD-40 is fine as is everything else mentioned on this thread but the thicker stuff sticks more. I'd let the oil sit for 60 minutes minimum before turning it though.

these engines are tougher than people give them credit for.

mine (rx4/5 era 13b) sat untouched for 7 years, not even hand turned. it was driven every now and again before its 7 year hibernation.

to re-start, i poured engine oil into the spark holes and a smidge down the intake.. turned by hand, let sit for a few days, repeat. i then used the starter motor to turn over with the plugs out, turned over to pump out the oil. then gave it some spark and off she went.
