tearing down a 74 13b.
does anybody know what the sensor mounted in the center section is for?
also, whats up with the bolts under the exaust ports on the bottom of the rotor housings?

EGR I believe (correct me if I am wrong) is the thingy on top and the other bolts on bottom were for the thermal reactor. Those old 13b used them instead of a catalitic converter.

i don't know what that sensor is, i did away with it during the rebuild and make a plate to cover it. i think u could also use a freeze plug and some bolt studs for the holes.

those bolts under the exhaust ports, sounds like those block offs that RB sells. i have them in mine.

Leave it if you like. It can save you some extra money to leave it there instead of buying a new oil pump chain.

how hard would it be to find another rotor housing of this vintage?
one housing is good and the other is ****. torn between the idea of parting the motor or tracking down another housing/ceramic coating. i even have some 89 rotating assembly
hanging around to install upon reasembly.

u'll be hard pressed to find ANY rotor housings of that year in reuseable condition. u can use '85 gls-se housings and plug the injector holes, and could probably use ur '89 rotating assembly.
