A crazy find
So I was just out for a bike ride here in Hong Kong, and spotted an FD parked in the lot of a small fixit shop. I stopped in for a closer look, as there aren't many rotary cars here, and I'm a bit starving for 'em. The owner walked out, and we sorta chatted a bit (his broken english vs my dysfunctional chinese) when I mentioned I wanted to import a Cosmo.
He said "I have one!"
Really?, I thought. That's a little odd. People here usually like brand new really expensive things, or really old really expensive things, with very little interest in what lies between. (I believe i'm accurate in thinking there are more Lamborghinis per square mile here than any other country (or, special administrative region in this case, but Hong Kong is like a totally different country than its parent China, and has a larger population than some bigger countries!)
So I followed him inside.
Lo and behold! Be still my pounding heart! (well, not too still!)
Some time later I was able to reel my jaw up off the floor long enough to take some pics.... of...
THIS BEAUTY!!!
Can you imagine my utter shock?
He said it is the only one in Hong Kong, and cost the owner about $60k US to get.
What a sweetheart. I hope it gets put in a very safe place and only driven early Sunday mornings out on some secluded mountain backroad. People here don't really give a scheisse about other people or their property, and wouldn't think twice about scratching a car from stem to stern with a bag lady cart or a bicycle.
What a find.

i would have to disagree with this comment though. cars as a whole in HK are kept in much nicer condition compared to here in the states. you see much less dings, dents, scratches, etc. not just owner owned cars but public transportation vehicles like buses and taxis as well.

I didn't mean car owners don't care about their cars, I mean people don't care about other people's property. I've already had my car damaged 3 times by people walking past it who don't care if their handbag buckle is putting train tracks down the length of my car. Or their shopping cart, or door of the taxi they're getting out of. Even when caught and confronted, they won't take responsibility and just bolt. Sad.
