What would the shipping to the US be on something like this (zip 78108) i almost think it would be better for me to get a couple or 3 at a time as opposed to one.

and since you are saying Rx3.... any possibility of R100???

Would be willing to accept Fiberglass or CF

How about a CF trunk lid for an RX-3. I would love to do both right now but only my trunk NEEDS replacing.

Hey Dave, if you plan on geting some hoods from 13BEEF let me know. I might go in on shipping with you and get one for myself.

There really is not a whole lot of difference between the 2 the only real difference is the small radiuses for the headlights

I don't think that the hood stay is even different. Regardless i would be interested in a aus spec r100 glass bonnet in fact probably a couple of them as i am doing a 1200 wagon and a UTE that both need to shed the ugly piston hoods.

Im waiting for an answer from shine. Most likely there only going to be able to do fiber glass. they were telling me that getting a hold of carbon fiber is really expensive and going fiber glass is more cost effective dunno though yet

My 2 cents and the way I am looking at it, a couple (like 5) of the cars I am working either are not stock or will not be stock when I am done. I would not forgive myself for screwing up an original metal hood that could be used on an resto when I can get access to either a FG or CF one. It just gives me so many more options.

ok i spoke with shine today and he told me that the first copy of a rx2 CF hood will cost about $5000 and they only way for him to even consider a project like this,he needs to have about 15-20 interested partys...with 20 guys he can cover the cost of the mold and material so the hoods could be more affordable...im not giving up yet, i still need to talk to downing atlanta on monday to see what their cost will be...i know of someone in NZ that has the mold for the trunk but im still tring to get the number from my buddy...guys it seems like the major problem here is the mold...these companys dont wanna build a mold to make 10 pieces of CF ****, plus they have to store the mold untill someone else needs another batch... do we have any boat builders on here that could help us with a mold??

I'm not asking for any money yet but we at least need 10 "serious-as-a-freakin'-heart-attack" people to step up and say they want one before I can get us some real estimates into time and cost. If we can even get to that point I'll start asking for deposits but from the way it looks I doubt it

RotaryBoyz, I already have a source that can do it but it's not going to happen unless there are 10-15 committed buyers that are going to give deposits. Hoods would be much cheaper than shine though. Figure around $400 ballpark. Really good work and they are located in California.

If I notice some real interest I'll start a new thread with a list. Let's give it a day or so though because a lot of people don't check the forum on the weekends.

Shin is out of his mind and that is lie, I went up to shines ware house where he works out of with my boy to pic a sideskirts and front bumper and a diffuser. That guy told me that he could do it because of so many projects that he has going on, he also told me that he needs about 15-20 for sure people with money in there hand, a hood to do the mold and all the money up front at the same time. And the cost of the hoods get this $400-$650 maybe a lil more it was a price he through up int he air. People are quick to get a buck these days and believe me with all the work he does and the items he sell''s i doubt he need the money that bad. But to each his own.

I could tell you now that Downing will be very expensive!

I also got an email from Ken (Shineauto) after seeing this thread and emailing him. He said no go unless guaranteed large number of rx2 owners willing to pay and get one of these.

Other option is thru someone I know. He already made a replica FG R100 hood for himself and some 3rd gen side skirts for me. But he also doesn't want to do it unless enough people are interested AND willing to pay at least $400 per... And he takes his time as he does this stuff as a hobby...

Let me know if you guys want me to ask.. and how many people are actually serious about getting the hood made.

I'll see if he still has the mold and could make it in CF. Might be quite expensive ($650-750 + shipping).

Anyone else? I think this is the problem when making custom parts.. people are interested but not willing to commit.
