Adjustable oil pressure regulator stock in pre-84 13B's?

Hey, I took apart a couple RX-4 13B's and noticed the oil pressure regulator on the rear irons didnt look like the normal reg's I see in all the newer 13B's

They both look like a Racing Beat adjustable reg.

Are they all like that?

its not adjustable. the pre-RX-7 ROPR came with removeable cap that you can shim to increase oil pressure.

Wait one more question....

Heres a Racing Beat adjustable OPR installed on a T2 rear iron.

Now how do you adjust it? What makes it adjustable? I've installed a few of these in engines and never really ever thought about it.

I know all '74 and older engines had the so called adjustable ROPR. When I tore down a '76 Cosmo and '78 RX-4 engines, they were the non adjustable type. Either they were swapped out during a rebuild, or Mazda stopped using the 'adjustable' type by '76.
