-Update-

IT RUNS!!!

Well sorta. The reason I had no spark is that the sheathing around the c.a.s. harness wasn't grounded. Fixed that and the car fired up with the first shot of starting fluid.

Still no fuel getting to it. Had the fuel inlet on the out tube...duh... fixed that.

Still nothing. I 'm gonna remove the injectors and have them cleaned out/tested. The parts car sat for a year or two, hopefully they're just stuck shut?

Anyway, it revs up nice, no pops or backfires, sounds awesome!

Huge thanks to SATCH for helping me work out the bugs!

-UPDATE-

The original side mirrors were so sun damaged they collapsed at the touch. Was considering three options:

JDM style fender mirrors. Pricey, and I'd probably mangle them while working under the hood?

Stock FD mirrors. Not cheap either, and probably wouldn't fit right.

Stock FB mirrors. Pick and pull $25. Got them home and realized they are IDENTICAL to the original cosmo mirrors... only the mounting base is different.

Also got an aluminum t/stat housing with a blank for the fan switch from the same car.

Life's little victories you know?

Exclamation hey

i too got a cosmo for free, i know there are alot of parts on ebay for them, at least for a start so check there first, plus i heard that alot of the first gen stuff fit on the cosmo, but good luck with breaks, the lug pattern is rare i believe, 4x120 on these which sucks. but there is still more info to be found, i got new front and rear sway bars for mine off ebay, i have a 6port that im building to put in mine too, but im going to put a new harness in mine. get back to me if you find anything or want to ask me anything.

Thanks, its a gsl-se with s4 injection/ecu. I've driven it around the block a bit, just to test the brakes and such. Found a small leak on the oil cooler, and need to complete the exhaust. Renewed the arizona tags another year (20 bucks!!!, f-ing California) try to get by on those for a while.

The brakes are gonna be the next endeavor. I have s4 stuff to put on, just need to make it work. Wheel options will definitely improve. Whats the story on yours? get some pics up!

So now that the car is running, there are a couple of issues:

Tach doesn't move. Diagram shows a green/orange wire to the dash. Anybody know which wire is the correct one off the s4 trailing coil? I'm using the yellow/blue one...?

Also, The oil pressure light is dim, then brightens as you rev the engine?

Exhaust on Monday!!!

The oil pressure gauge problem is common when using the old mazda with a newer rotary...it seems to be a matter of compatability of the gauge and the sensor. My GLC does the same thing.

Not really. This is my first rotary mazda like ever. Most of what I've done, I wasn't sure would work so didn't really take the time to document failure??

The car is pretty much original, just swapped the engine, cleaned out the fuel tank, and some interior stuff.

Hope to get out to some of the bay area meets and such when she's rollin'.

Its not ready to be a daily driver yet, but it may soon be all I have to drive.

The fuel tank is way cruddier than i thought and is clogging filters in a matter of seconds.

Can't find anywhere in sac area that can clean it out and replace the rusted outlet tube.

A fuel cell is $250.?

Could you elaborate on the need for this? I put everything on, ACV, smog pump, etc., all stock except no airbox. Don't know if these parts are causing conflict?

I put the s4 setup on but didn't remove the 2nd set of butterflies yet. Should I do that no matter what?

Having fuel starvation issues above 4-5k rpm. I'm running the AZ. plates for now so if I need to remove all that stuff to make it run right its all good.

Also thinking it could be the stock gsl-se pump not putting out enough fuel?

If I sell it or keep it and drive it, this needs to be right.

If anybody can clue me in on the best fuel pump for this combo.

Running a stock gsl-se pump, into an aftermarket press. reg. showing 30psi at idle. Rev it up, it drops steadily to 0 psi at 4-5k. Not cool.

This is stock s4 injection, is 30psi even enough? Will removing the pressure reg at the secondary fuel rail help any?

I could go to the s4 style pump, but its in-tank.

How much pressure do I need to sustain rpms?
