i own a 67 vert and 61 ghia.lol but im not that big a purist, just messing with you.
a few years back i played with the idea of a 20b powered ghia, but then i got a third gen rx7. but who knows maybe in the future a short crank 3 rotor wouldnt be a bad idea.
but like i said before your slight modification looks good.

i always liked this video

treceb: I had actally refinished the front fenders before I bought new ones. So they are perfect and in primer. The rears are hammered. Previous owner cut the **** out of them then bondo'd about 1/4" to 1/2" over them to hide the mistakes. Not salvageable.

ok i finally put m starter on and no worky. its the traditional 6v gear. the kennedy kit comes with a 130 tooth ring gear and the 6v was a 109 tooth. so it wont mesh. apparently there was 2 years karmann ghia that had a 130 tooth flywheel and 6v starter late 1965 and 1966 and those are the gangster starter to have. they used that setup for many more years in Europe so its more popular there and can be sourced from there. as of now ill be rolling a traditional 12v as well. i work part time an a machine shop and could turn the armature of the 6v starter down to accept a 12 gear which might be an option of i have a good 6v and a dead 12 starter. anyway thought i would clear it up.

i think i used the same exhaust wrap as you. that stuff sucks to put on i was picking fiberglass splinters out of my hands for days after.

AverageJoe: Well the repair manuals for beetles actually breakdown the rebuild of the trans I believe. But you buddy would prob be better of just getting a used tranny. You can get rebuilt trannys for bugs for like $400 and used trans are a dime a dozen. Go on THESAMBA or look on craigslist.
