MazdaComp for $120k block only, must be preffered VIP customer. Some guy in Europe bought one straight from Mazda for his FD in the late 90s.

I know of at least two here in New Zealand, this one is up here in auckland and was built by New Zealand engineers. Not sure how much it cost but it would be well under the 120k US mark. This car is still going!!! I can probably track the guy down that built it if you like?

ok? 120k for a motor, and you still have to make custom mounts, intake, fuel sys, ignition sys, etc, all that for what?! is originality really worth that much money?

Take a tail happy car and add more weight further back than stock. Doesn't sound very smart.
Maybe.... if you can do it, flip the transmission and mount the engine in front of the transmission like what can be done with old VW beetles (formula Vee race cars, etc).

I was under the impression that the NZ developed 4 rotor e shafts used straight 13b type housings and plates (instead of needing 20b parts), so it should be easier to put together than a 20b. And one has run at least 8's (7's?) in the Aussie Queen St BWM drag/show car (Mazsports built engine with possibly a microtech computer, though I think tuning had input from Phil Laird of Graphic SKills racing who is a Motec guru).

I believe this is the Queens St engine o nthe dyno, 4 rotor 13b

Plenty of room for a two rotor. Very likely a three rotor would even fit. I think a four rotor would require extensive modifications to the body.

jeff20b is doing a 4rotor build right now
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/ghetto-4-rotor-build-638177/
he's getting the shaft from nz but I think he's using the 12a as his basis
I'm sure he'll let it go for 60K
thats a 50% discount, cheap at twice the price!
