Congratulations! I worked on rotary bikes for years. Make sure to get a carb plenum, it will help with the secondaries. What did type of oil did you put in the metering tank?

Good. Is the metering gear is adjusted correctly? Or is the premix is just a precaution.

So far precaution. Needs tires and new chain . Will be road ready and adjusted soon. Carb still needs to come out it was missing the accelerator needle . Even thinking of ditching the complete carb and do a keihin fcr 39 and block off the oil pump all together. But is all easier said than done lol

That would be a big job. If you ditch the pump (I never have) remember the apex are massive so your ratio would need to be pretty heavy. I have also never seen a exhaust cover turn blue, another carb issue.

Haha. You noticed . The exhaust was leaking into the cover right at the base of it and it heated pretty good . All fix now . It's going to be one of those long term projects for me . I want to take my time and enjoy it .

My 76 had the original tires on it as yours looks to as well. They looked brand new but were 30 years old when I bought it. So after doing almost exactly the same restoration work as you I took it for a ride to the local car show. Turns out that new looking 30 year old tires don't take a heat cycle very well. Good thinking to get new tires first

I was also missing the accelerator needle. After years of getting really crappy fuel mileage I finally put in a needle and it changed absolutely nothing. Ran great before and after the needle, still only get low 20's mileage.

Great project, have fun with it!

Yes tires are very important to me specially on a bike , my life depends on them . On a bike after 5 years even if never used they will be no good , they dry out and will have no grip. Do you still have your bike?
