WA 1965 Dodge Polara 6 rotor project

need input should i do a dual 13b setup 4 rotor or a 3 rotor ultimately would like 6 rotor monster need help with all areas especially with transmissions, car that will be receiving this setup is close to 5000 lbs maybe even heavier

WA nope

nope its not april first my buddy needs the 383 big block thats in it and i want to do something never done as simple as that i like rotary engines so why not just through a big turbo on it change the apex seals and good to go

Best piece of advise I can give you is find the nearest cliff and push it off and then
go buy a nice Mazda old school car.

Hey as long as the heart is rotary I think is worth it. I think 3 rotor buy engine rebuilt and go for it . Any old school car deserves a rotary except a 1972 dodge challenger that's my favorite car after my rx3 . Do it man do it

one complication i see with the six rotor is the length of the bolts needed to keep them together other than that firing order works on 360 degrees divided by six running in alternating pattern just like the four rotor 1,3,2,4 firing every 90 degrees so some simple math and we would be good, the other problem i am having right now is finding a sufficient amount of these engines to slam together and be carb, not fuel injection.

no...
the issue is eshaft flex.

The eccentric shaft(equivalent to a crank) Will not hold the force. Research into it. Its simply not possible.

WA hey

OK. don't they use six rotor in aircraft though? can the 20b 3 rotor be compounded together if so wouldn't that solve the stress issue if the shaft is already able to take a three rotor attaching one more set shouldn't cause that much of a difference?

ok on top of that what turbo would you use one large or two medium size turbos.

That was just a mockup done by Hurley Rotary; it never ran. The timing of this thread is funny because I was thinking about the engineering issues of a five- or six-rotor just this morning. The problem is just as Brodie121 says: e-shaft flex. The longer the engine, the bigger problem it becomes. That's why everyone stops at four (that, and turbo four-rotors are capable of such obscene power that it's unnecessary to go any larger in practice).

I don't mean any offense, but from the sound of your posts, you are not a professional mechanical engineer, so I recommend giving up on the idea of a six-rotor. Pay Jeff Bruce to build you a four-rotor kit, slap a turbo on it, and have fun.

how do you get around the ECU issue with a 4 rotor without having to spend 3000 on a Stand alone engine management unit because i want to turbo but don't know if there is a solution for carburetors, which would mean i have to do fuel injection but what do i do run both separate ecu

no way around it..... you'll more than likely have to have a separate ignition system

Carbs suck. They are just a slightly controlled leak.

As I said, I hope you have alot of $$ a real standalone is going to cost you $3000+

There is no way you will be able to complete such a project for cheap. Just being realistic.

u can buy complete 4 rotor setup with ecu etc for 70grand nzd

WA pretty good forum

there was a pretty good forum "ghetto 4 rotor" going for a while and it was insight full, i am thinking of 4 rotor 13b dual with a huge turbo out of my buddy's 1996 dodge ram he is giving me i am thing about more than 500 horse after i am done thats what i am aiming for.
