Waffles - hmmm good

Nice! Give us some details. Looks like its a 13B with a holley double
pumper and a 3G oil cooler up front, those are my best guesses.
I'd like to do a rotary bug someday and love to hear about
how folks have solved various issues like radiator placement,
oil coolers, exhaust etc.
Looks like a modified RB header turned around and exiting
through a single large muffler. Is it loud?

well... its a 13b that was fuel injected but I took the easy route (to avoid wiring) using a racing beat intake and holley 650. The ignition I snagged from a junkyard 12a. I custom made the stainless exhaust from scratch with a flow through muffler. Its kinda loud The transaxle is a freeway flyer setup, previously built to handle the 1900 something cc aircooled engine that was in it. (the old engine had ok power but leaked oil, got hot, and just kinda sucked...) Disk front brakes with front and rear sway bars were previously added. The radiator came from a newer Hundai and the oil cooler came from a 80's Chevy pickup. I used a Kenedy adapter/ clutch and flywheel kit. The rest is all hand made, brackets and linkages from scrap metal and junk I had sittin around. I used spray paint to help it go faster. It was all done on a tight budget mostly for fun.

How did you deal with the unbalanced vw flywheel? What kind of counterweight can I use on an 82 12a standard motor? Is it possible to mount the counterweight from an 12a automatic on the standard 12a motor?

Look for a 79-82 rear counterweight. Also check out Mazdatrix for a KEP adapter. http://www.mazdatrix.com/VWkit.htm Or get it from Kennedy. They offer the rear CWs as well, last I checked.

No I don't drive it much. Runs way too rich with that holley 650. Overfueling. ......it was a BIG mistake not using the original Fi that was ripped off it...not by me by the way......now it's nearly I'm posible to find one without paying an arm and a leg for it

The original EFI is not worth using. You're better off doing a small amount of research into the right size carb compared with the current one that is obviously not right for that application. Finding the right carb is also better than going through all the EFI swap drama to just end up with something that is arguably less powerful and more complicated, and less likely to keep working for you as the years roll by. 30 year old sensors etc.

Dang that car has changed hands quite a few times...I've been looking for it....I traded a dino kit car for it....it wasn't running...I did a bunch of work to get it back up and running...fixed the sunroof...I did the rerouting the plumbing from the tunnel but I can't remember why now...I layed in all the felt...got the "RTRYBUG" plates...I ended up trading it for a Ducati...then traded the Ducati for another bug hahaha......who has the car now? Is it for sale?
