12A Turbo vs 13B-T : For a Lightweight Beetle Kit Car

After a lot of research I can’t find a definitive answer on which engine is better , some people argue that the 12A is dogshit and others argue that the 13b is overrated and that it’s only slightly better than a 12A .The car is extremely light ( lighter than a beetle ! ) and a lot of people have warned me that more power =\ not necessarily faster , now I know all about Wheelspin and Drag coefficient, Down Force , air pressure , Weight Distribution ... e.t.c now I know a 13B-TT might be overkill but will a lightly modded street-ported 12a turbo manage to get a top
speed of 300 km/h and a sub 5s 0 - 60 km/h.

I know this is kind of a depends and it’s a stupid question but please forgive me

12As aren't dogshit, but 13Bs are ( in my opinion) better in virtually every respect with next to no down side.

From a sheer parts availability standpoint, I would think the 13B would be a no-brainer at this point.

If the car is as light as you say, i would say a nice streetported 13b NA and the right transmission and rear gear could achieve your goals...

Would the power of an RE or REW help it go faster would it just cause wheelspin ? The RE is just 40-50hp faster than the NA
