Vote for the best rotary shop in Washington

Well I have my choice of Adkins in far off southern Washington or I could give Rapid a call which is about 20 miles closer to me. I am still handeling the dealer ship about that white FD and I am trying to make them drop the cost by doing hella expensive but needed maintanace.

Rapid: 1

Adkins : 0

I vote for rapid just cuz its closer lol

Atkins isn't a rotary shop, they are a rotary engine rebuilder and parts manufacturer. They stopped doing auto repair a while ago. Rapid Rotary? Did they change their name back with the new owners or is this a different shop from Mazdas and More or whatever it is called now that it has new owners? Only other shops are granny's, can't recommend, the guy down in Olympia, Mikey in Tacoma, Jeffs Automotive, and Mt Peak. There is also Jerry's Little Cars but I dont think he does much more than tuning carbs. For a 3rd gen the only places I can say is worth even trying are the guy in Olympia, Mikey, and Mt Peak. My first choice would probably be Mt Peak.

The only experience I have are with Mike in Tacoma and Atkins. Otherwise I've done everything myself. I recommend them both.

No to many choices here in Washington.

well, it all depends on what you are doing to it. thats the main part. as for any shop, i would do a search in here and in the good guy / bad guy section. there is also a sticky with alot of shops and coments at the top of this section. me/ myself. i would tell you to goto Lopi.
Import Auto Repair
Engine, Repairs
Lopie
(360) 753-5887
9611 Littlerock Rd. SW
Olympia, WA 98512

this guy is awsome with rotaries. mark at mountain peak is great, and so is Mikey. but do some searches to find everything out about each place is your best bet.

My personal choices for my car in order would be: If you can't do yourself

Engine building: Mike Janousck, Pineapple, Lopie
Minor repairs & Troublshooting: Mt. Peak Automotive, Lopie
Major mods: Gary Brooks, Alien Auto, pineapple, Gt Garage
Tuning: Gary Brooks, Ground Zero, Lopie is awesome at tuning.
Body work/Paint: Northwest Body & Paint
Parts: Racing beat, Mazda Trix, Corksport, and of course Victoria British and Jegs.

I would never take my car to a Rapid Rotary. Only because of past experiences.

We might not be in Washington State but (1) I can see Washington from my office window and (2) we don't charge sales tax! Pineapple Racing is also now doing limited service work, like compression checks, tune-ups, engine installs, clutch & brake jobs, etc. The "limited" part is that we are selective who we take in, as we only want to work on one or two cars at a time rather than get bogged down with countless projects...engines are still our top priority.

Well, a good way to judge a shop is by the power they can turn out of engines. GT has set up a 3 rotor with a gt42r thats going to dyno around 600 at the wheels. And pineaple has built 2 rotor engines that have handled almost 800 flywheel and almost 700 at the wheels. I dont think any other shops can lay claim to that

There is something to be side about the shop's ability to turn out power. Shows detication and somewhat knowlage but I think years of experiance and price are important too. Heh I am not a money tree, in fact I need to take out a lone to own an FD.

+1 for Andy at MazdaTech... He's great for most anything. I wouldn't really trust him for tuning and/or "deeper" rotary related 'ish. (for example: doing a rebuild).

Other than that, what Hyper said is completely true. Never met a fairer mechanic.

Hah! Blake, I use almost the same thing when talking about we are! People often ask me "Aren't you in Portland?" and I usually say something about being able to see portland from the roof.

Right off SR525 just NE of highway 99. Here's a quick search result: http://listings.allpages.com/wa-0065...-lynnwood.html

I think he said his lease on the land would end last time I stopped by...can't remember he said that this would happen.
I can vouch for him also. Really fair and helpful...at least with the small amount of work and troubleshooting he has done for me.

He acutally owns the land and is thinking of selling. he leased out half his shop to the paint shop for some xtra cashflow. He's right on the Mukilteo speedway across the street from an Albertsons.

If you are doing maintenance catchup, there wouldnt be a better place to go than mt peak. Mark is one of the nicest guys around, you could chill in his newly remodeled waiting area. He works out of his own shop and can offer great service for a reasonable rate. i guess the downside would be the distance, but he is closer than vancouver/portland!
