starting issues

I posted this on the 2nd ggen area but I was just curious to see if there were any locals with the same issues.

Ok, I have been having issues with starting the car when its still warm. It starts up like a champ in the morining but if i turn it off and leave it for 10-20 min, it just wont do a damn thing. Now that its getting colder, I can start it up after a couple hours( I havent tried any sooner to save my self from embarrassment).

Ok I have been told on here that my compression is probably going bad.
I can believe that, and it is due for a rebuild. But, since Christmas is coming my rebuild funds are hitting an all time low, so I got to thinking.

Would it be possible if for some reason my fuel line is getting heated up and vaporizing the gas, causing it to be a bitch to start up when warm?

Feedback much appreciated.

Thanks,
Zane

Do you hold the gas pedal all the way down when cranking it?

No, when it is cold i give it a tiny bit of a pump to "jumpstart" it. But when it is warm and I have to start it, I have to pump it, give it about half throttle. Just prettymuch feather it till it reacts. You can feel the rotors spinning and you can tell when its firing cuz they move faster and then it fires up with a big cloud of smoke. Smoke that reeks of gas. Whicch doesnt make sence.

It acts like its flooded yet it starves for gas..

Damn, I use to have the same problem 2 summers ago. Unfortunatley I don't remember exactly what was causing it. I'm wanting to say starter, because during that time I was having issues with the starter. Though like kompressorlogic said it could also be flooding. If you dont have, make a cut off switch for the fuel. Just cut the two power lines for the fuel and splice them to a switch.

Oh and Kompressorlogic made his 1337 post, lol. "LEET"

Just get a switch for the fuel pump. takes a few minutes and its very cheap, Then crank it turn the fuel switch off then when it catches turn it back on. Its the best thing i ever did,
