Stripped that thing to the bone, custom ram air intake, and chopped off the muffler for less restriction, my goal was to get the best mpg I could and I ended up hitting 32mpg in the city! Driving that thing around in 5th gear at 30mph was awesome. Plus the speedo tops out at 80mph and the rev limiter is something like 3800rpm? Haha, perfect slow beat around car.

I just got another ticket, im slowing now... 44 on a 30, yeah its lame, however its 14 over the limit in a 30 zone, do the math, sucks

I cant afford the gas of driving fast. Cant afford the loss of licence, work is 1hour away
I want to buy a new(er) truck for the winter.. insurance is gona kill me

However I agree, 60mph is a MINIMUM speed that i feel comfortable at, anything slower i feel like im wasting time

What realy slowed me down was when my best freind and I where out in my old 79 Rx-7. To make a long story short, through nothing short of the grace of God, he and I are bolth alive. We walked away without a scratch, while the car was nearly unreconisable. If you guys realy want, I'll tell the story. It just takes along time to type it. CJ

I think I remember it if you posted it before, maybe its still floating around in the archives.

Dragon naturally speaking would be a nice tool to tell a long involved story on the net.

I drove the SHO today, yep it's not the same and I won't speed in it. For one, the engine sounds like it's going to EXPLODE at 6k rpm like any piston engine does, and the torque really drops off after that anyhow. It's not like a race ported rotary that violently erupts in a rage of two-stroke-on-steroids fury everytime the tach gets halfway across the dial, the SHO just doesn't feel like an F-16 like my FC so there is no danger in losing my ability to go a normal speed due to excitement.

There's always the gas issue too....
More speed = more gas = more money = less money for other car work = less money for other stuffs
I got cut off going South through the T-curves a couple years ago while driving my Conquest TSi so I dropped it into 3rd and carved up some traffic. F-ing cab drivers. I was slowing down when I noticed this Buick trying to catch up with me. I was done screwing around so he caught up and got behind me. Then a single blue light came on in the windshield. I threw out the anchor and stopped near the bridge that parallels Barbur Blvd. Thank god they were detectives! I'm pretty sure they didn't even have a ticket boook and would have had to call for backup to write me up.

My '66 Dart 225/auto bone stock was right with an old 1.9 4 speed Escort of my buddies. I mean fender to fender making all of 40 MPH between stop lights. Ah, High School. My warmed over 225 with a 4 speed and 4.10 gears in the same car was quite fun though.

im a young driver and have 2 speeding tickets, both cost me $421 fine and a hike in my insureance. i cant afford to speed on minimum wage. and it doesnt get you to your final destination much faster then if you wher to simply go the max alowable speed. unless traveling long distances...

and ive found better outlets for my driveing, such as all the gymkhanas, auto crosses, and hill climbs and i hope to be doing open track days within the next month or 2. and for me it feels so much better to be able to go all out and not worry about geting into trouble or hurting anyone but myself.

Worry about snakepit autocross courses that feature three passes through a double sided chicago box! Talk about a maze, yeeeesh, no way to speed there.

Go fast and haul ***

You need to go to PIR and spend $100.00 for a D.E. day. Any of the clubs will let you in for a small fee. You will get about 140 miles on the road course and will have a blast...not to mention you get an instructor (required for first timers) to give you all kinds of advise, ie: Braking points, turn in points, apexing, etc. I will be out on the 22nd of this month..I have a black 91 with my business name all over it. (Apex Restoration) Come out for a hell of a time..I guarantee you that you will laugh/cuss in your hemlet the entire day. Your car will need to pass basic spec, similar to autocross. Go to PIR's web site to see there schedule for the entire year. By the way..if you go out on the Porshe clubs autocross day, it's $25.00 and you will get about 20 runs since there are only about 60 people there. I guarantee you that the money spent will be worth it...not to mention, if something goes REALLY bad, you won't hit anything too hard...unlike if it happened on some back road and you rapped your car around a tree! John
