So I get a letter from the sheriff's office...
...and it tells me my 88 GXL was towed and that I owe $293.50 at $30 per day till I pick it up.
Problem is I don't own it any more, at least I thought I didn't.
I sold it on 1/27/07 to Robert Peare from Milwauki, Oregon. Got the online report of sale and everything to prove it.
So now I have to prove that I sold it legally and that I shouldn't owe the money right?
Also, the report that came with the notice showed the contents of the car...
2 bags of Marijuana, color green
2 Marijuana pipes, color glass
The report even has the drivers name and signature.
Sean M. Harry from Portland.
It sucks when you sell something on the forum to a member and they can't finish the deal.

There must be some misunderstanding then, if you submitted the online report of sale... As long as you have proof, then you shouldn't be required to pay. Go talk to your local licensing agency on Monday and ask for their advice... They can be pretty helpful sometimes just answering basic questions like this.
Your other option would be to determine if that car is WORTH $300... If it is, then you could basically buy your old car back for *that* amount and just say "screw you" to the guy who basically screwed you over by abandoning your old car without transferring ownership... ? Either way, you're in the right, so I wouldn't worry.

in reality you have 2 options
1. your go down and paw for it to get out of impound then you have your car back.
2 you take your bill of sale down to a sheriffs office and show them that you sold the car already, and that its not you problem it the buyers problem

omg :-) hahaha
Well....hmmm.....this is kinda funny.lol. i would go down and look in the car for the paperwork u gave m when u sold the car like title to the car etc if he never transfured the title to it and he gets pulled over chances are the paperworks going to be in the car if so than pay the 300 and take ur car back.
Or
Go down explane whats going on and see what they tell you to do.
Or
If you still have this guys phone # or whatever call m up and be like get ur car outa impound or i will and keep it. i would hate to see a nice 7 go to auction.
If the guy you sold it to is a nice guy than call m up etc but if hes useing drugs n stuff he's a louser/dumass take ur car back.
well its not my car but thats my 2 cents.

At the time I sold it I had 4 RX-7's, sold the 88', gave the 83' to a rotorhead that crashed his FB and now I got 2 FB's left, one for each of my daughters to have when they can drive.

Called the Sheriff and yep, they show it was sold in Jan 07', the flunky that was doing the paper work didn't check that field, out of state and they get confused.
Faxed the BOS to them and it's no longer my problem.
Might want to watch the Portland Sheriff auctions in the next 6 months, might snag a nice 88GXL for cheap!
