"Dad and I hate those cars.. because of what they do to you...."-My Sister

My GXL was recently wrecked and my base has been down since late september, now I'm trying to move the GXL's engine into the base, and Saturday-tuesday I spent almost all my free time - until I ran out of energy to continue each night - trying to finish.. I've been not eating enough for the work I'm doing[hard to go get lunch when you can't drive..], not sleeping enough, and going crazy without one of MY cars to drive when I need to - been getting rides everywhere..

Meh
Tell them to suck it up. Atleast you're doing something about your transportation situation after your GXL was wrecked. Sorry to hear about that too. Unlesss you're spending all your free time tinkering on your car- even when it's up and running- you don't have a problem. Right now you are just trying to remedy your transportation problem, instead of sitting back on your heels waiting to hear from insurance companies. I for one applaud you for that. However, if you ARE spending all your free time tinkering on your cars, instead of spending time with said family- I assume you still live at home- that's not really healthy man. I'd try to correct that, afterall family is much more important than any car, yes even a 7 ! Your family will always be there for you, and cars will come and go.
I hope that helps you out mate.

Been there, done that... The only way that I could deal with people trying to deal with ME was by personally being more patient... I have a tendency to get very "short" with people and frustrated because of the lack of food, water and other things when working on these cars.

Now I try to loosen up a little bit and try to at least *appear* more polite and calm. I feel you though. There was a period maybe two years ago, where everyone around me was noticing how often I was working on my FC's and people began to comment about it in a negative way... So yeah, if *you* lighten up--others in your life will lighten up as well.

Explain how one can do the reverse part of that...in my world having a life would be constantly working on my FC....whereas my family doesn't embrace me not doing something to my car....how odd...I need to hang out with you guys more.

My entire family has been trying to get me to sell my FD since I failed emissions in 2005. It's paid off so there's no reason to get rid of it

I'll take that offer!! [If you'll answer that is ^_-]
[btw.. Do you still want those drives?]

I'm pretty sure that everyone'll be back to normal when I and the car are.
[Though I was kinda shocked that she said that..]

Eriksseven, I think you're right on the mark there - I really have been MUCH shorter temp'ed than I normally am since the accident. [I've had a reliable car almost every single say since Oct~2004, I guess I've been spoiled..]

red7rising - It probably comes from the fact that I'm a computer person, not a car person ^_-

mazdatim - hehe, Yea.. no reason to get rid of a nice car like that.. [people were starting to say more frequently that I needed to get rid of the GXL.. :/ it was abused it's whole life until I owned it, but I guess it had suffered enough..]

lt1rx798 - :/ She has been letting me borrow her car when she's not using it [which isn't that often] and she'll give me rides to work when my Dad's busy..

RyosukeD - LOL.....

TurboJeff - I don't have *the touch* with cars ^_- [I'm a computer geek - not enough muscle strength to do all the work in a day ^_-]

Eatmyclutch - I quote...
"••86-88 nonturbo 13b: 125-175k miles
••87-88 turbo 13b: 100-150k miles" - Rotary Resurrection
The less frequent the rebuilds the better ^_-
