Smog friendly counties

So I’m about to have a job interview in Seattle. So there is a possibility of me moving to Washington. What area preferably north of Seattle is modified car friendly and not a bad place to live.

I have family that lives on the far north side of whidbey island but that is way to long of a daily commute. How is it taking the ferry daily from south whidbey? Are there many outages or is it fairly reliable?

North of Marysville is emissions exempt to my knowledge. That said, WA state emissions expire at the end of the year so that’s something to look forward to. Also anything 25 years or older is also emissions exempt.
I have a coworker who uses the whidbey ferry to Everett and to my knowledge it’s very consistent with regards to departing and arriving times, at least late at night.

When you say state emissions expire at the end of the year do you mean there is no more testing for all vehicles?

The testing program is going away next year, and in the large city counties . And anything 25 years or older is exempt(so 94 fd is exempt allready)

If moving to this state I would highly recommend alot of research on traffic patterns.

Google map your commutes for your planned start and quit times and see how they look based on what areas you are looking to live in
