Just do it yourself. You can use a multimeter which costs about $12 at Schucks for the cheap one. You basically undo the TPS plug and "probe" the back of it (on the now disconnected TPS, not on the wiring harness side of the plug) with the red and black multimeter needles. There are 3 wires going into the TPS and you'll be getting the reading from TWO of them. You push the black needle into the back of the plug with the BLACK wire going into it. You put the red needle into the GREEN AND RED-STRIPED wire in the back of the plug, NOT the red wire like you'd think... You turn the setting on the multimeter to 20k OHM's (if you don't know what this means, ask the person at Schucks). You will then get a number on the multimeter. Probably within .50 and 2.0. You will want to adjust that little screw that's pushing into the TPS either clockwise or counterclockwise until the number reads 1.0 ohm's on the multimeter. Once you've got it pretty close, slowly push on the throttle linkage and watch the multimeter gauge as the numbers begin to rise. With the throttle linkage fully pushed down and in the "open" position, you'll be around 5.5 ohm's or so (kinda guessing). You'll want to do this "sweep" pretty slowly, to make sure there are no "dead spots" while the numbers are rising. If this happens the gauge will basically read E for error, or 0.000. If this happens, or your TPS sweeps to like 10.0 ohm's, then your TPS is shot. If you can get your TPS to read 1.0 ohm while the throttle is just resting AND there are no dead-spots while you slowly push on the throttle, you have a good and SET TPS.

Oh yeah, it takes less than one minute to disconnect the TPS, connect the multimeter probes, turn the screw and push down on the throttle linkage.

Also, if that didn't make sense--read it again, print it out and take it out to your car with you. It's extremely simple to do.

Good luck and please don't pay someone to do this for you.

aww thats cool. i dont remember how to say your name boost lol...it was unique :P i dont want anyone to "do it for me" but coaching would be greatly appreciated. i wont learn anything from other people doing it lol. however...heres whats going on. back in aug i got my tps replaced, and installed at a local shop i do business with, they didnt have a multi because theirs was broken so i dont think they adjusted it right. ive been havin a problem which i think it fuel related, if i take my foot off accelerator and "coast" i chug. so last weekend i replaced spark plugs, ive already replaced filters. when my dad looked at the old sparks he said it looked like it was runnin lean...no idea how to tell but they definently are crusty. so i put knew ones on. now would the TPS have anything to do with how rich or lean the car runs? i got on it tonight and usually the car would keep accelerating up to about 7k, tonight it was about 6k and it seemed like it was strugglin. maybe fuel issue? this is a rebuilt motor low mileage so im sure it aint dying on me yet. any helps greatly appreciated. Ill get back to ya boost tommaro, if that ok.
