RPNW Beach Trip / Blake Qualley Memorial Drive

Everyone,

The annual Rotary Power Northwest beach trip will be on the weekend of September 13 and 14. This year Rotary Run 11 will be held in honor of Blake Qualley and his contributions to the Club. Blake was one of the original founders of RPNW and the 2007 trip was the last Club event he participated in before his passing. The trip is open to anyone, not just RPNW members.

This years run will be very similar to that of last year with a couple of exceptions. We will again start on Saturday morning at Fry's in Wilsonville and head to Newport for lunch. The afternoon route will be modified to include more roads in the hills southeast of Siletz and will end in Lincoln City where we will spend the night. Sunday morning will take us north to Garibaldi and then inland to a stop at Camp 18 for lunch. The afternoon route will again pass through Jewell and on to Clatskanie. From there we can either disband (last year the rain had dampened a lot of spirits at this point) or continue on with a route that ends at Portland Ale for food and a general discussion of the weekend.

The Crown Pacific Inn Express motel in Lincoln City has offered us a very low rate (about half price) of $53 for Saturday the 13th. But to get this rate you must make your reservation by the end of July. Call 1-800-359-7559, ask for Skip, let her know that you are with the RPNW group and ask for the $53 (one queen bed) rate.

I think that everyone who participated last year had a great time and really enjoyed the route and company of other rotorheads. Hopefully everyone will enjoy the changes to route and we will have even more participants (and less rain) this year.

So, if you want to participate you need to do two things:
1. Call Skip at Crown Pacific Inn and make your reservation before the end of July.
2. Send me an email and let me know that you'll be attending so we can get a head count.

Thanks and I hope to see a big group at Fry's on September 13.

Will be there. I think I'm going to try and get some vinyl cut for this, you know like a memorial sticker. I've been wanting to for some time especially with my new car project since it's on of a kind, and thats the kind of guy Blake was. Give me some input on what would be a good decal combining the drive itself and Blake.

Great idea. Let me know if you need us to pitch in money to cover your costs.

FYI Skip no longer works @ the Crown Pacific Inn Express. They will still honor the rates. Only 2 rooms have been reserved for 9/13, mine is one and another member. Tel# 800 359 7559, 541-994-7559

I reserved a double bed room with "ocean view", if one of you guys needs a bed let me know. I got a really good deal, but not sure if the lady would want me to tell everybody, but I got the room for $80.

[Not sure if I'll be driving the base or the vert.. But the suspension hasn't been done on either one, so go easy on me..]

Everyone,

I'd like to get a firm head count on the number of people who will be participating in this event. As of yesterday the people I know who will be participating and staying in Lincoln City are:
- Audie Walker
- John Hillman
- Matt McKinney
- Kory Mitchell

If you are going to participate please email me directly (billwhite78@comcast.net) and let me know if you will only be there on Saturday or the name of the motel where you will be staying if you are doing the weekend.

Thanks,
Bill White

I'm out, the current state of my clutch is such that it wouldn't be wise to do this trip. I won't be able to get a replacement in time either. Enjoy the roads guys.
