Wow you have a lot of experience. I'm suprised no one has given you a job right away. Good luck in your searches. I too am looking for one, but in a totally different field.

Hey looks like you have quite a lot of experience. I don't mean to be harsh but I think that you need to change your layout. When looking for an employee the employer does not want to read a book. There are some great layouts on MS word that will make your resume seem more attractive. Good luck with your search.

Resume process/help

Hey, I took a little time and put together a preliminary resume for you. It is very similar to the format that I used and it has never failed.

Here is the process that I use.

1. Apply with an application. If they do not have an application just submit your resume. If they do submit both.

2. Send a thank you letter for accepting your resume and application and request an interview.

Ususally this will produce great results and they will give you a call but if they do not then you can always call them and talk with them.

A couple side notes:
When you print off your resume use card stock paper with a light grain in it. It shows that you actually took the time used special paper. If you are mailing the resume DO NOT fold it. Spend the extra 25 cents and get a large off white folder that compliment your resume.

I hope this helps and like I said above this process has never failed for me!

Ok...for some reason I can not get them to upload. Can someone help me out? It says that the files will only partially upload. Or Gambone you can give me your email and we can do it that way.

BTW, I was down in the Oregon region this last weekend, I met up with Hoofhearted and 1badd7. Both great people. Hopefully I will have the chance to meet up with more of you in the future!

It should be summarized to one page. My moms and HR rep and is/was in charge of hiring and firing. I send my resume to her every time and she helps me out. She told me that most HR reps including her throw out any resume that is longer then one page and just plan doesn't look right. I've just e-mailed her to ask if she could give you a few pointers. I'll keep you posted.

PS. I should hire you to help me track down my problem with my FD, sounds like you'd be a capable person.

Happy Hunting,
Joe

It all varies from place to place. My HR rep (large utility in Or) gave me a very popular resume book and it says not to worry about length too much, but yeah a huge one isn't recommended. I forgot the name of the book (it wasn't a book on how to better your memory appearantly) I hear Monster.com works well, but I haven't tried it personally. Good luck!

I have taken a coule resume classes over the last 4 years. About 4 years ago it was a big no no to have a resume that was over 1 page. The class that I took a year and a half ago did not say that. I specifically asked and they went into a whole dissertation on how things have changed blah blah blah.

I meant to reccoment monster but also have never experienced it. Thanks for picking up the slack PDX

Get someone to walk your resume to the hiring manager, avoid HR at all costs!

Last track of time, been knoking on doors and passeing out my resume, been keeping track of littles els. I want to thank evey one for the feed back and suport. My frist father inlay told me of a time when he was trainning some one in hus job, took a short vacation and found uppon his return he no longer had his job, well that's not what happened to me but does come real F en clos. Had this one guy working with AJ's and he was nothing but a big mouth konw it all left for a better paying job in Salem at Pep Boys. Well now we all know that they went under and "O" can I have my old job back, noproblem. then as time went on he just had to have more money and thought the grass was greener with Snap on Tools, well that didn't last to long so it was time "O" pleas can I have my job back, NO problem. A long time befor he came back the secend time, no tech in the shop realy thought highly of him and realy didn't care for his return. Well the same week I was let go he had paid a trip to the shop and had a talk with the big owner, Stands about 5'5" tall, come thrusday I got my walken papaers not knowing all this has hppened, I was pushed out so this over seler know it all could have a place, I don't beleve in over seleing, covering up my mistakes, or just fixing what isn't realy wrong, and getting the custorm to pay for a lot of work that just was not nneded. You know, in passen out my resume, I'm getting a lot of feed back that sounds like I my have a hard time getting a job, simply becouse the word is out about AJ's

Hey sorry to hear about that. Sounds like that is a really shitty deal. When I get back from my meeting tonight I will email you the template that I created for you. It is kind of rough but you should only have to cut and paste and wa-la you will have a professional resume.

You could always move to a different location j/k

Yeah man, that sucks.

My mom hasn't had a chance to really look at it, she said she's very busy. But the things that I notice right off the bat are:

It’s a touch too long. Try to keep it to one page.
Short descriptions are best, bulleted statements. The long descriptions are for the interview.

I'll PM you mine, which will just be cut and pasted from monster so it will look a little crude.

Again, Happy Hunting.

*edit* It went to your personal e-mail.

The Rogue River is about 250-300 miles from him.

What specialty shop is in the Grants Pass/Medford area?
