Recommended shops....

Ok, so I'm tired of trying to figure out what's wrong with my car and have decided to tow it to a shop. I'm just wondering people's opinions on the local shops for 7's around here. I've heard mixed reviews on mazda's & more and hayes. I just recently heard of a shop in the Puyallup/Tacoma area called Speedline.

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations of shops they've taken their car to?

I see you have a MT. That narrows your options down to:

Gary Brooks XTREME ENG,
253-677-5616
Wauna WA
Email: gcb08@comcast.net

Chris GT Garage
503-473-8749
Portland OR
http://gtgarage.com/
Email: Chris@GTGarage.com

Justin Alien Auto
509-308-3146
Richland WA
http://www.alienauto.com/
Email: justinlinder@alienauto.com

I would have it looked at by a rotary specialist like the ones listed above. Other cars are often tuned by advancing the timing till it starts to ping and then backing it off a bit.

The only shop I trust is my garage. But that's just my opinion

Thx Jones. I will possibly call a couple of those guys tomorrow.

dDub - I usually agree with you 100% but my car has been down since last summer and I can't figure out why it wont start. It wont even turn over. I have replaced the battery, ECU, coils, ign switch, starter, and alternator. And to no luck, it wont even turn over. I'm completely stumped on this one.

I agree that these are the only 3 places for you in the area that I would take my car to since you have a Microtech. If you let Hayes or M&M touch your car, you will have to call one of these guys after they were through with your car anyway. I just sent my Microtech Brain and hand set to Gary and hopefully will be shipping my car to him, after Dr.Jones car is done. If not I will take my car to Chris if Gary has no time.

I called Ralph when I was looking for a tune on my MT and he said he wouldn't touch a MT. Got the same answer from Torque Freaks. I think Chris/GT Garage uses Ground zero's dyno but Im not sure.

If you have a 3erd Gen and a Apexi Power FC, go to Ralph.

See the only problem with all these places, and I think what you guys have missed is.......

I'm not looking for a tune yet. I'm just looking to get the car RUNNING, it wont even turn over, and i've spent the last 5 weekends trying to figure out why. Its really starting to **** me off and I am not good at electrical.

So, I am looking for something a little more local, but they know their rotaries, and preferrably have worked with stand alones so that they could look at the wiring and see if its not right. Even though I did have the car running better than ever, then one day it just stopped turning over. And for those who missed it before, I have replaced the battery, ECU, coils, ign switch, starter, and alternator.

Gary Brooks specializes in Electrical with these cars. You might want to call Mark at Mt Peak Automotive. He is right out of auburn in Enumclaw or Jerrys little car.

I would take it to Mark as he is the more reasonable with rates:

Mt. Peak Automotive (mark)
26806 SE 432nd st
Enumclaw, WA
Office (360)825-1170
Cell (253)653-2323

Jerrys Little cars
1517 So. Central
Kent, WA
(253)854-9601

Ralph is a very cool guy. Before my battery blew up and I had my MT LT8, I took it to him for the tuning. It was his first time working with MT, but he did a good job. Put down 318rwhp @ 12psi @ 7500rpm's.

But if Now learning of Chris, and Justin, If I'm going to drive 2.5hours to get it tuned, I might as well take it to a MT specialist. At least that's just my opinion on it.

Hell yah. But WAYNE88N/A is coming up fast on him, wayne has walked me through some problems and that man knows his 2nd gen electrical stuff.

Either of them are great places to start looking for electrical help.

Oh and for those unfamiliar with "mazdamark" his name on this board is actually "Icemark" if we're thinking of the same person here. Only mods of the 2nd gen section are me, Aaron Cake, and Icemark.

Two switches you didn't mention were the clutch switch and the neural switch. We have them on 1st gens and you should too.
