question about buying cars
sorry if its the wrong section. but its the most likely section this question would make sense. so anyways. im 18 and i really want/need a car. but im pretty sure i have no credit at all. so i always see commercials and car dealers that say bad credit no problem, does that mean i can get a car from them and pay them back... like they pretty much loan me the car and i pay it off to them? or what. thanks for the help. i just need a new car. old rx7 had blown coolant seal and needed new seals. so i sold it.

IMO I would not buy your first car from a used car dealership they jack up the prices and they will screw you over. What you need to do is call some local banks, I would start with BECU and ask if you can be approved for a car loan. As long as you have a job most banks will give you some kind of a loan for a car usually. BECU gave me $10,000 for my first car when I was 18 and I'm sure I had no credit.

honestly a good place that ive heard to buy cars from are those rent a car places. like Avis or likewise. the places around the airport. they have to keep maintenance records for ALL their cars and keep them in good shape, plus they are cheaper than most dealerships

Save up some money and buy something cheap on craigslist like a volvo or honda. or see what a credit union will give you.
Do not go to one of those used car places. You'll be stuck with that problem for years to come. Plus they usually sell crap.

if you have a steady job and have been working for at least a year i would say that if you are paying any thing over 9-12% APR you are getting screwed. Most of the those used dealers like that charge 15% and up. There is also the option of having a co-signer which will also lower your APR. Take some one with you who knows what they are doing and i dont mean a self proclaimed expert eather.research the car using NADA and Kelly Blue Book. use both and take the average. get the milage and the vin. use the vin on carfax.com if the dealership does not offer one. be prepared to walk away if they are trying to charge you to much.

just buy a beater for 600 bucks run it till the wheels fall off, don't buy a expensive used car. carfax or not. not everthing is on carfax. another way is to find a tow yard, or other company that deals with cars one way or another and see if they have any leans. usually they just want some money and the car gone.
